Make sure that the game is setup to use a wheel and not a joystick.  I
believe it's an option in the NFS3 menus.

One other thing to try.... try a better game. :)

Hi

read so much about the wheel here
went to a store to try before buying

It had NFS3 installed and tried it
with the game.
It was a complete disaster.
Comparing with my MS joystick, NFS3 was
easy and enjoyable, but with this wheel
it made me look like a novice.

I wonder what are the first few things
that you do when you set up the wheel
Do you need to cut back on some deadzone etc ?

From my testing it feels like " nothing_then_full turn"
sort of thing.
Also it ran incredibly slow, on a 400mhz.
G400 card. I guess it must be something wrong.

of course the guys at the store says everything
is alright   :-)

Best regards

For what it's worth, I always sucked at the NFS games when using a
wheel.  You need such a fast response time just to move the car around
properly that in my opinion, a wheel is a waste in an arcade game like
that.

Yeah I've found that for arcade type racers I generally suck using a
wheel and it's a waste of time. It's with sims like F1RS etc that they
really come into their own. I tried the GP500 demo the other day with
both a joystick and a wheel and I easily did better with a wheel. This
is gonna be a great sim too.

apart from specialities of NFS3: did you ever use a wheel before? when i
bought my first wheel (a thrustmaster grandprix 1), i could hardly keep
the car on the track with GP2. and when i switched from the TMGP1 to the
logitech WFF wheel, it was the same with driving GPL: it cost me several
weeks to get used to the new wheel and the pedals - i was almost about
to give up ... so be patient and try to tweak the options in both NFS3
and the wingman profiler - you can change the sensitivity, deadzone and
several other there.

Me too, I always use the keyboard when I play arcade games.
NFS3 (4) just doesn't have good enough control when using the wheel.
