Bought two SLK800's and two delta 80cm fans, one each for my brother and I.

Installed them and started up both pc's.....it was like a hoover was on in
the room..!!!

I made some non connected changes in Bios to both machines and restarted the
pc's.

My brothers starts like a hoover and then gradually over the next minute
settles at a really low RPM and is really quiet....temperatures in the mid
30's at the cpu.

Mine is permanently like a hoover,RPM never drops....and temperature is
same..mid 30's at the cpu.

Why...????

He has A7V333 mobo i have A7A266....and as i altered both Bios i know both
have the same settings.

Any help appreciated.

I could be wrong here, but if memory serves me right, the A7V333 has the
new fan control thingy that ASUS now incorporates in their MoBo's that
reduces the fan speed when the CPU isn't heavily loaded, your A7A266 is
most likely lacking this function....

I have an A7A and I'm not too happy about it.  Seems I get slower
benchmark scores than other users with similar cpu & vidcard.

I have an SLK 800 with Delta 80mm fan, and it is not that loud to me - but I
guess what is loud to some may not be loud to others. Helps me sleep
actually :).
Anyways, having that delta as a variable speed fan will be dependant on the
mb connector you plug it in to, whether it has that function, or any other
connector you might plug it in to.
Personally, I want my cpu fan running full bore at all times - but that's
just me.
The SLK 800 is a hell of a heat sink, my Athlon XP2400+ runs at 32-34c idle,
and 36-38c under load, overclocked. I used Arctic Silver 3 for thermal
compound.
