GP2 Appears in 'The Times' TV Commercial

I was just sitting down in front of the TV with some cheese on toast for
my lunch, when a commercial for 'The Times' newspaper came on. It was on
the theme of sport, and featured a ten second or so shot of GP2!

It starts with a panning camera view of the cars on the grid, although I
can't tell you which track. It then shifts to a camera moving around the
air intake of Damon Hill's Williams, looking forwards along the track as
he goes round a corner. There is then an in-car shot, followed by a
fixed view of our Damon rounding another corner.

The graphics look very good, loads of detail and quite clear. I think it
was running VGA, although I stand ready to be corrected on this. The
frame-rate, however, was terrible. Very jerky, and not at all fluid. The
car models are very realistic and nicely detailed.***pit view looks
very similar to F1GP1. Looks as if there are some very nice outside
views, though, particularly the panning cameras.

I saw the ad at 1300GMT on Sky News, although I daresay that it will be
on ITV and C4 shortly, as it is a new ad.

By the way, are we still go for June 28?

This Ad has been out for a long time now!

I have read on F1 - the magazine - that there's an ad with Mika
Hakkinen, and another one with Jean Alesi in it.  Does anyone know will
the ad be appearing on TVs in UK?

I saw this as well and have to agree with you it did look very jerky. It
did appear to be in VGA and I hate to think how it would have run in
SVGA on whatever machine it was running on.

Cheese and toast for lunch... I get it-  you mean the *London* Times!
Around here "The Times" means the New York Times. Didn't think the
Times would be involved in that., but it would be nice.

But what kind of cheese does one put on toast?

I severely doubt it.

People are going to go crazy actually waiting for this thing. People
are presently going crazy now that Rick Genter said theICR2 patch
would be out by today... and of course it isn't. (I'm sure it's not
Rick's fault).

We ought to all undergo sedation until September.

The patch is in our QA department. After here, it has to go to Sierra QA
before it goes on the web site. Looks like it'll be Thursday at this rate
:-(.

the following words of wisdom...

Personally, Scottish Mature Cheddar is my favourite, although I am also
partial to Danish Blue. Cheddarie or Philadelphia are tasty but messy,
and I've never liked Red Leicester. Basically, you can put any kind of
cheese you want on toast. That, for me, is what democracy is all about.

The Mika Hakkinen one is for Mercedes I think; I've seen it on
Eurosport. He's driving along a cliff with a 'preeeeetty ladeeeeey'
and she says something to him, and then he says something cheesey
back. I think the english has been dubbed on and Mika is the worst
actor I've known since Eldorado was taken off the air.

No, it's called 'The Times', and it's been around a while....

Any cheese you like, just slice it, put it on top of the toast and grill
it.  For variety put some (cooked) bacon, or tomatoes in it (even a splash
of ketchup or worchester sauce).  Cheddar works best.

Oh great! Now we're swapping recipes on R.A.S. Well Brian, I recommend
thick slices of cheddar with a large glob of ketchip between 2 slices
of white bread. Then slap it in the microwave for 30s (no more).Mmmmm!

Disgusting! Peplace the white bread with brown, the ketchup with Branston
pickle, and the microwave with a grill, and were talking Mmmmmm!
