I have been watching the CC drivers using the "in car" view and there
are several cars that get 208 at Hockenheim. I've managed to get 205
there. At Monza I can press for 201 on the main straight. It would
appear that setup makes a great deal of difference in this.

Hi,
I couldn't have a chance to play GP2 yet. I am curious about the top speed of GP2 cars. So,
what is the top speed(s). Is it true that different cars will have different top speed??? If it's
true, it will be excellent... really a real F1 sim.

I haven't noticed different top speeds between the different teams, but as in
F1GP 1, you can change flap settings to improve your top speed or increase the
grip of your car.
One thing (a detail) that changes between the two version is the color of the
***pit. For example, you see bodyparts of the Ferrari in red and in
Blue/green in the Benetton. Microprose has kept the name of the pilot of the
1994 season and the helmet paintings are acurate. You can see Jean Alesi
turning his helmet in the corners... Very weel

By the way, F1GP2 is a really good sim and it is much more realistic than the
first one. The only drawback is that ir requires a HUGE machine with a very
fast processor to run at full speed in SVGA with all the options.

My advice: buy it!!!

You are quite right. The details in some of the aspects of GP2 are
astounding, in my view. I was totally impressed by the outside view
on the replay of Hot laps. The drivers turning their heads, the way
damage is portrayed, the smoke, the AMAZING detail of the outside
view of the cars, the fire breathing tailpipes, on and on.
This is a STUNNING graphics achievement, again, in my view.
I was wondering about the helmets and color schemes, and am glad to
hear that they are accurate. They sure are attractive.

BTW, the MOST astounding thing I've ever seen in any sim is the
MONTE CARLO track...that is a work of art. It is truely amazing
that it is there, like that, and that it actually runs while you
are driving the car. I have a P6 and can run it with full detail
on, simply stunning...can not be over stated...

After fiddling around with my Imola setup I can reach 201 mph just before
braking for Tosa, but then I don't have enough downforce for the turns.
Having enough downforce means that I only reach about 195.

I've got 206 mph at Hockenheim, you need to be
doing 145 at the 1st bend, no wings, low ride
height with lots of packers. 66:64 on top gear
(this maxes out the revs by the first chicane and
the 4th gear right hander coming into the final
complex, but not for v.long and from the graphs,
the better accelaration out weighs the 1 mph top
speed. Stiff roll bars at back v.soft (500 lbs) at
front. You have to brake early and turn in early
the car will go, but don't be afraid to hit the
throttle in the bends, it helps the car to turn.

Isn't it great to watch the length to which someone will go to stick their
head up their arse?

Did I miss something here?I agree that the graphics are quite
excellent, but I fail to see the point, when the "feel" and "driving
experience" leaves alot to be desired...this is supposed to be a
real-world racing SIMULATION,yet last night,during practice,I would spin
out,tag the wall, sometimes flying through the air and crashing to
earth, and then being able to just continue on racing UNDAMAGED!...I even
pushed an A1 around a corner yet it did'nt even bend the front
spoiler..!...is there a "damage on" button someplace.??
I'm really disappointed with it,in this regard.

Fair point. Even with Indestructability off it still appears possible to hit other cars and fly
without registering any damage. I suppose what you're looking for is finer levels of damage so
any touching could, say, damage an end-plate which would subtly affect handling. Far more
realistic.

BTW I'm still really struggling to get anywhere near the same times as GP1. I constantly get my
daughter saying "Oops daddys crashed into the popcorn again..."

Even with damage "on" it takes quite a hit to sustain any damage, the
model seems to be simular to the"arcade" setting in ICR2, I personally
don't find this too realistic.
