F1RS Patch a Joke!

F1RS Patch a Joke!

by Iain Mackenzi » Sun, 07 Dec 1997 04:00:00

The patch is a joke!
Out of all the list of problems that I have been communicating with Ubi
about, it only fixes 2! They are that the CH pedals now work, and the tyre
compound is saved with a carsetup correctly!
The program still crashes regularly. (Easily replicated in my case by doing
a few ghost laps at Nurburgring then loading a save game from a race at
another track.)
Still has the unbelievably annoying problem of going through every lap after
selecting 'abandon race'. When in a full race, this is unbearable.
Many other known problems that they have not fixed.
One of the most annoying aspects is that the patch process doesn't work.
When the 'voopatch' is executed from the F1rs folder, it copied the new dlls
to
the right place, but then corrupts the 'f1voo' exe! It has to be copied
manually from the patch files!
Very frustrating.

Seems that Papyrus isn't the only one making mistakes in this
department.  ;)

Cheers!

Same here. No problems before the patch, no problems after the patch.

Funny huh? Some people have problems, some don't. And those who do have
problems blame F1-RS for the problems.

Makes one wonder....

I'm not sure what you mean here. Ubisoft are well aware of the problems of
which there are many. If you don't have any, then that's great, but the game
has problems for a lot of people and they (Ubi) are continuing to work on
them.
I could list them if you would like.

When I read someone whining F1-RS doesn't run well on his P-II 266 Mhz with
64 Mb and a Monster 3D, I get suspicious.

I've got a P-166, with 32 Mb and a Monster 3D and it runs fine.

No lockups, never have had ANY problems with ANY DirectX versions and games
that use 'em.

People start bashing Win95 for all of their problems. IF they don't have
certified drivers, it's not their fault, it's the programmers/Microsoft/Bill
Gates fault. That it only means their drivers our outdated they don't want
to see.

I had problems with DX-5 and Jedi Knight, and I contacted Lucasarts then.
They said I should get the latest drivers. Thought I had, but there were
newer ones for my SB-16, which solved it.

People take it out on games and Microsoft WAY too easily when all they need
to do is check their drivers for newer versions or check if their system is
configured well.

Yeah, it's probably Bill (Gates) under another of his many aliases :)
