What a surprise!
What a surprise!
Eh... not really, did anyone officially say otherwise before? -How long
would it take you and a friend to code a racing sim?

I was being sarcastic. Anyway from the Racing Legends FAQ: "We expect to
launch our first product later this year."
Posted by Tony West in the forum on August 23 responding to a question about
the above FAQ statement: "Yes, we are still on target"

An excellent example of the empty promises that I was referring to
yesterday.

I'd missed the forum post, which sort of gives the hecklers a case, I guess.
I never took the original statement as anything but a best guess at the
time, however.

Hey-ho. I don't see any reason to change my views on this: I think that
the Wests are honestly trying to get things moving, and I think that,
if they can, they'll produce a finished game in the end. But there's
been too much "crying wolf" (not, for the most part, by the Wests, but
by others telling us that "we expect some news in a couple of weeks" or
suchlike and then not delivering... repeatedly) for me to take things
on trust any more. Admittedly part of that was due to Empire's insane
total news blackout policy which meant that those expecting to give
news weren't allowed to - I won't be buying an Empire game in the
foreseeable future for that exact reason - but I still feel badly let
down. (As, I'm sure, do the West team themselves.)
I reckon that the odds are about 50/50 at present that Racing Legends
will ever be released - better than it was with Empire, but a long way
from a certainty. I don't think it's fair to rubbish the Wests without
any evidence, but neither do I think it's fair to rubbish those who ask
questions about why things are so slow.

From their FAQ:
When will it be ready?
We expect to launch our first product later this year. We will be
introducing a beta test programme for all those who cannot wait for the
finished article. More information on this will be available on our website.

There isn't any chance that the Westies can't write a line of code, but they
own a Huge T shirt, Hat and Teady Bear Factory do you?
Just Wondering ;-)
Darf
I'm not really whingeing, I totally support the Wests and will wait
patiently of some kind of release. But I do feel they set themselves up for
criticism a bit. I think it'd help to deflect pressure if they gave some
rough dates. They must have a rough idea when they will be ready with a
beta, and they can always change them as they go along.
I see today that they took down the picture of the teddy bear. Gee, do you
think they figured out it wasn't gonna be the hit seller they fantasized it
would be?
Whoops, my bad. That goddammed teddy bear is still there.
