Anybody know what has become of the F1 sim "Starting Grid" by Visiware?
I thought it was to have been released by now.

It has been delayed due to lengthy negotiations with FOCA...it is due
out between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15.

From what I understand it will have all the 96 and 97 tracks and there
will be a paintkit for the cars and helmets. Also it will support
Rendition video cards. Supposedly it will run on a P166 with a video
card with 4 megs of VRAM with full detail on regardless of whether it is
3D accelerated or not.

Yes, at one time we were expecting a June release.  I believe the
current line is that the sim is finished, and they are negociating
for licenses.  I don't know who they are negociating with, or for
what licences.

Visiware, if you are negociating for the right to use racing team
names and colors, driver's names or sponsors images, just give us
different colored cars that look kind of like formula one cars, and
let us race around tracks that have white billboards and blank sponsor's
logos.

If you are negociating for rights to use the tracks, keep negociating.

Taken from an email of June 23rd From:

Starting Grid has nothing to do with F1 from UBI, F1 is a 3DFX only game
and a very nice game that has been show at E3. Starting Grid is
DOS/Windows
without 3DFX planned at the moment. Comparaison is very difficult to do
further to that, expect that It seems that ours is more acurate as far
as
simulation is concern.
The release date as been postponed by the publisher due to long
negociation
with Foca, it should be released between Sept 15 and Oct 15
