Hi,
Look what i found at Alpha F1 - Grand Prix 3 - http://www.racesimcentral.net/

According to the latest rumours from Microprose, Hasbro has decided to release Grand Prix 3 for the Christmas market. The beta
version, as seen at ECTS expo, would be finished by adding support for 3d graphics and sound cards. Unfortunately they cannot add
much new features to the game, so it'll be very similar to Grand Prix 2.

The game would be finished later with an add-on package which would also contain 1999 teams and tracks. The add-on package is
scheduled to be finished just before FIA F1 season 2000 would start.

I don't think we are really waiting for this to happen,....do we???

Grand Prix 2 with updated 3D graphics.

Frankly, I can live with that.  GP2 is a damned fine sim as it is.  I'd
rather see it be brought up to date, instead of dumned down to the arcade
crowd.

i don't believe it. You need finished games for ECTS to sell *at* the
Christmas market. Now is too late.

GP2 was the greatest racing sim of it's day, and I played it to death.

However, GPL has raised the bar so much that GP3 has an awesome challenge
to live up to. Particularly in the areas of physics and multiplayer.

Having seen the demo at ECTS I would say Geoff needs another year in
development at least.

Indeed.. in fact there are a number of "complete" games at ECTS every year
that won't manage to make it past testing and pressing before the new year.

Not me. I will only buy if it has 3DFX support, FF and weather effects.
Otherwise I'll stick with GPL. I don't even play F1RS much because
the FF sucks :-)

*sigh* I'd hope it has OpenGl or D3D support, not just Glide.
Dynamic weather is an absolute.

It should.  I don't think Microprose/Hasbro would be that suicidal.

Just bring it on, I would already love GP2 with 3DFX support, GP4 will come
much sooner and will then probably have the new features.

BTW if this news is true I'm not so stupid after all huh. Some of you
probably remember my posting about GP3's release in which I said that the
fact that the Monaco track was there meant that the game could be out sooner
than we would expect. And that the christmas time is still the best
marketing time. Don't forget how much Hasbro normally profitted from the
christmas sells. Over the last few years they've lost sales to the computer
games, so they jumped into that market. They still use the same marketing
strategy as they did with their core businesses.
The new features will come with GP4, no problem to me, they deserve the
money.

According to Hasbro at ECTS, GP3 is %60 complete.

Welcome back to the limelight Geoff Crammond - Whats the matter ? running
low on cash from GP2 ??

Seems alot of RASers here are quickly forgetting the***poor support that
Microprose along with Geoff gave to the paying customers - ohh did I forget
to mention the misleading information they placed on the boxes of GP2 ???
"Recommended" - Pentium 90MHz or faster - It should have read: WARNING !
Faster -  as in you gotta have a Cray computer when the graphics are turned

Hopefully Hasbro along w/ the Geoff can give the proper "CUSTOMER SUPPORT"
that is expected in todays extremely competitive market.

Why do you assume that minimum specs means "what PC you need to run full
graphics and smooth framerate".  For me, and everybody else, it means "what
PC you need to simply run the game with smooth framerate, at whatever
graphic level".  I see no false advertising here, I mean put Gp2 in VGA
without most of the graphics and it WILL race smooth on a 486dx2.

Same goes that I wouldn't had minded to run N3 (the real one, GPL game
engine) with all graphics off simply for that.  But the people who think my
way are *** gamers.  The mass market is dumb, they want all the
eye-candy at high framerate on their piss-poor PC's.  They are dumb, it's
imho their fault if some game engines take time to update (see flight sims,
sports and racing games mostly).  But that's another thing...  since there
is also *** producing companies who can't accept that a *** software
can be targeted to a specific market and not the "Mr. everybody and their
