What racing games allow talking online via a mic/headphone....?

What software would i need etc..

All of them would.
TeamSpeak, Roger Wilco, Game Commander are all voice server programs that you
can use during games.  I haven't tried them, so I can't speak to their ease of
use...

Ventrilo, Teamspeak, TeamSound were recommended to me in that order.  Only
problem we had using these kind of programs for a GPL league were the guys using
speakers, couldn't hear them over the roar of the engines. :-) With headsets it
was fine.

I've found ventrillo to be the best of all those mentioned for Nascar ...

In what respect is Ventrillo better than Teamspeak?  I don't control the
server so I'd need to give a reason why we should switch.

I've only used Ventrilo lately. It's a really troublefree nice voicecom app,
which works excellent with Nascar 2003.
I've heard that teamspeak is good too.
