The other thing to notice about revving it in neutral - notice that your
car rocks to the side a bit from the engine torque.

Just saw something in a replay that blew me away....

Pulled my Ferrari out of the pit, and wasn't paying attention and went a bit
too far right, clipping off the right-rear tire on the barrier at the end of
pit road.  Neat little ride afterward, as you can imagine.  So when I
finally come to rest, I see if I can blow the engine for the hell of it.
Redline it for a few seconds in neutral, and sure enough, it blows.  Go to
the F10 view, and see little bits lying about - go to the F2 replay, and the
tire getting clippped and the subsequent ride was impressive, BUT what blew
me away was when the engine blew, you could see the rods, etc. come flying
out of it, and bounce to rest behind the car!!!

I am still amazed that the engine doesn't just blow, it blows IN DETAIL !

Try this one, it's pretty neat.  Just don't do it in a race :-)

Hi Ken,

What damage level were you on?  I tried to blow the engine once, just stopped,
declutched & nailed the throttle for about 30 seconds but nothing happened. I
think I was on realistic, may have been advanced damage but I'm not sure.
Anyway I'm gonna try your way, sounds cool!

Papy just went overboard, didn't they?  <grin>

Speaking of detail, maybe I was dreaming, but the last time I slid through the
Kink at Spa, way over my limit, tires in the dirt, teeth gritted, I swear I saw
a spectator duck & run!  Naahhh.  Couldn't be.  This sim has serious
pucker-power.

At Kyalami, sliding towards a corner worker, I thought I saw the same
thing - or maybe I was thinking he had better move hehe

At Kyalami, in the first right after the straight, lap 1. Started last (G).
Come around the turn, pile up ahead - and at least 1 car is on fire! Somehow I
missed the kluge, and continued, but was shaking the rest of the first lap.
What a great sim!!!!!

I just found something really cool.  I knew you could blow the engine in this
game, but did you know you can *partially* blow it??

I was running practice laps at Spa, grazed a wall & spun out onto the grass,
declutched, downshifted & stepped on the gas to correct the spin as I've done
before, but this time when I got straightened out, the engine had a *really*
rough sound, rpm's fluctuating wildly, very little power.  There was smoke in
my mirrors, I got curious & went to chase view to see the telemetry.  Rpm's
wouldn't go over about 6500, top speed I could get was maybe 90-100, and smoke
was pouring out the back.

I was able to go maybe another mile or so before it let go completely.  Now, if
I hadn't been trying to race, I bet I could have got back to the pits... Man
this game is cool!!!!!!

BTW, I had my first fire at Monza tonight.  Caught the right front wheel on the
end of a guardrail, got ***ly thrown clean across the track, hitting the
opposite rail rear-end first, flipped over the rail & caught fire.  They really
outta have a "eject" key to let you jump out of the car, you know? Or maybe
those guys standing by the track could come up w/fire extinguishers & pull you
out...

Yeah, I've seen that a number of times at Monza.  The Cooper, er, Coventry
doesn't like speed-shifting.  Before I figured it out, I'd see it sometimes
drop power after just the first lap.  Thought the pedal was screwed on my TM
Pro or something <g>, then figured it out.  I now shift properly, and
haven't seen this in a while :-)

One thing I noticed is that in replay mode on the In-Car cam you can really
see the front suspension working. But, when your racing you really don't see
it move as much. I'm not complaining mind you.. just an observation. Maybe
I'm just crazy.
