F1RS demo on boot CD

Hi all

I recently bought boot magazine (March 1998) with the hope, amongst other
things, of running the F1RS demo. The game seems to install properly, but
only shows the first two intro still screens before exiting. I have an STB
Velocity 128, and a P200 with 32MB RAM.

Any suggestions ? Has anyone else encountered this problem with the demo, or
could it be a defective CD ?

    Nope.  It ain't your fault, it's UbiSoft's.  The demo won't work with a
joystick or wheel attached!!!  Do you believe THAT?!!!!

    Anyway, if you MUST play (it's worth a try anyhows) Remove you joystick
(unplug it) and reboot.  The demo should work fine now but as for driving
around at 185 mph with the keyboard...May the Force Be With You!!!

make sure you are running the appropriate version, there is a direct 3d
version and a 3dfx version, you might be running it, thus making the game
crash.

I bought Ultimate PC April, just to get the demo, and it ran fine, even with
a wheel.
I didn't think much of the mag, but the cd was pretty good.
