Wizard Works to publish DTR

Wizard Works to publish DTR

Arun Devidas with the IGNPC Web site just broke the news that Wizard Works
has signed on as the publisher for Ratbag's upcoming Dirt Track Racing
title.  You can read the whole story here:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Best part of the story:  DTR's release date has been moved up to late
October.

FWIW, Wizard Works is the company that brought us Deer Hunter.  In the IGN
interview, Greg SIegele of Ratbag Games says, We are going with Wizard
Works because of their massive distribution network, their proven ability to
move lots of units and most importantly because theyre tapped in to the
hundreds of thousands of dirt track fans who will want to buy this game. We
are really confident that Dirt Track is capable of moving heaps of units.

Interesting aside:  Deer Hunter is Wal-Mart's #1 selling piece of software,
which backs up the claim that Wizard Works has a massive distribution
network, and that they CAN tap into the hundreds of thousands of dirt track
fans who will want to buy this game.  Sounds like DTR is already destined to
enjoy brisk sales; when Joe Racefan goes to Wal-Mart to pick up a case of
oil and sees the inevitable "Dirt Track Racing" display, you can BET that
he'll be walking out with a copy in hand -- especially if they bring the
game to market at an attractive price (say somewhere below $29 or so).

Joe Racefan's going to have to get in line for his copy, though . . . right
behind me!  Come to think of it, though, why don't you just go read the full
article at the IGNPC site now -- I'm going to run down to Wal-Mart to see if
they're taking pre-orders! <G>

John. For me the best part of this story was the screenshot. And I
say...with all respect... but I have WOOD again Street Stocks BAYBAY! Yeah!
Looks like a 70's ChevOldsMaBuick and perhaps a pony car like a
Mustamaroenger. But More than 6 cars, nice looking track. I just hope we can
re-paint the cars right away, and not have to worry about a patch.
The move to october is either really good or really bad...we will have to
see... But this publisher isn't going to help remove the REDNECK label from
this game... I just hope people give it a chance... outside of RAS and
WalMart I mean.

I'm Ready For this game, I think it will do well
regardless of the Label. I'M not into Hunting games
but I think it will be obvious to people after
looking at the box that this ain't a Redneck game.

It's gonna rock and I'm hoping to Find a Heaver like
the ones from Powerslide, the cars look amazing
in DTR. ONE MORE MONTH!!!!
