I'm using a Daimond Viper 330 with the Riva 128 Driver (the original Diamond
driver is worth for nothing)

Playing F1RS I can't see the ideal track althoug it is turned on in the
graphic options. I tried a lot of patches und did lot of experiments with
the driver options, but I still can't see.

Thank's a lot, if you can help me

Well, I know it might not be the answer you would want but...

I had the same problem as yours, and the only way I got it fixed is by
buying a Voodoo2-based chipset video card...

But I remember that with an utility called Nvtweak  I was able to get the
ideal line by playing with some options in it  (my problem was my ideal race
line was near the middle in height of the car, 4feet in the air !

What version of drivers are you using for your Diamond Viper.  Diamond has
produces a lot of new drivers for your card. May-be it will help.

It may be one of the many D3D problems of F1RS. With my Asus
Explores(another Riva 128 card) I could see the ideal line tracks, but they
were floating above the road surface! So I switched them off.
You could try the Asus drivers of course. Or buy a Voodoo 2 like I did. That
improves F1RS beyond recognition, and makes a great combination with the
Viper.

Hi Andi,

I got a Diamond Viper 330 AGP, and before I got my Voodoo I ran F1RS
in D3D mode. And yes, I got the ideal track, but it did hoover a bit
above the track. I'm not sure if I played it with the original Diamond
drivers, I'm sure I  played it with the 025 drivers from Diamond.

One problem though, the Diamond drivers were VERY  bad in representing
the backgrounds and the trees. There was a thick black surrounding
line, very ugly. The Voodoo version is way better, IMNSHO.

I have never had this problem with my Viper 330 PCI. The ONLY combination that
gives good frame rates and image quality on my system are F1RS version 1.05 and
the vp0025p Diamond driver. I have tried every Diamond driver, every nvidia
driver and the Elsa driver. I tried nvtweak, etc. but could never find a
configuration that even comes close to the standard vp0025p driver. Currently I
use directx 6 but versions 5 and 5.2 were fine also.

On my AMD K6-266 / 64MB / A3D system I get no noticeable slow downs on any
circuit, even at the start. I did change the setup file to adjust the audio so
that I can hear my car above the others. Also, use the first 3D sound file patch
if you have a 3D card. Without that patch the game will not load on my system,
and the later 3D sound patch just garbles up the audio. Ubisoft were good enough
to provide patches along the way, but the development seems to have stopped and
we are stuck with the existing bugs.

Sadly, the next patch for the game is likely to be $40 (Monaco Grand Prix Sim).

Keith.
