Do N4 car files work with N2002?

I have found a lot of car files on the net named '????.cup.car'.  Will
all these car files work in N2002?  Not all have been marked as for
which game they are for.

Is there a way I can tell the difference?  For instance, like file size?

Unfortunally, I don't think there's a way to tell the difference between N4
and N02 car files.
