Each Original PSX game comes with a country code embedded within the disc.
If the country code in your playstation console doesn't match that on the
disc, the game won't play. So, a US game will not work in a UK console.
This was found out early on when people tried to play many of the Japaneese
games on US consoles only to be very disappointed at the outcome. You can
use a 'swap method' to try to get it to run, or put a 'mod chip' into your
console, but your best bet is to just buy a UK release of the game.
