Ladies and Gentlemen,
After several hours of trying different installation methods, I found
the trick to a perfect install.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
** If you downloaded the Demo from my page, "Sil-Lin-Der Racing", **
** you NEED this information, so pay close attention. **
--------------------------------------------------------------------
After you download nas2.zip follow these steps:
1) create a directory off of the root called "n2demo", this can be
from any drive letter (ie. c:, d:, e:, whatever you have, for most it
will be c:\n2demo)
2) copy the zip file, nas2.zip to the new n2demo directory.
3) if you are using pkunzip, type "pkunzip -d nas2.zip" this will
build the directory structure. If you are using the WinZip95 I have
posted on my page, or a comparable windows archive tool, make sure you
select "include directory information".
4) At this point, if you are running a Windows environment, you should
exit to DOS, or If you are a Win'95 user, reboot to a Command line
interface, or your previous DOS version.
5) Change directory to the n2demo directory and run "install". This
will rebuild all of the files in the proper place. DO NOT try to run
"setup" or the Demo itself just after extracting the files. The demo
will not work completely (it will work partially, which was the source
of my "irritation" mail I sent last night)
6) Now go to the directory (usually Nascar2) that you told install to
put the files in and run setup.
7) At last you can run the demo and it will work (given, of course,
you have a Pentium and at least 16 meg or RAM, those of you without
the latest processor or a surplus of memory, I'm sorry if you went to
all the trouble for nothing)
I ran the demo last night and I must say that the frame rate is much
higher than Nascar is and the "spotter" is the greatest thing since
Minute Rice! Way cool!
Enjoy, and as Harry Hogg said "Hell, I'll race your ass"
