Beta tester warns NR2003 demo is a leaked media beta

Rodney Arndt posted in capitals that the circulating NR2003 demo was a leaked, incomplete media beta and the official demo was still being worked on. Eric Busch said the official demo needed Sierra QA, and others noted reports that the game had gone gold. Alan Bernardo dismissed Arndt as a nobody, and others pointed out his name in the demo credits.

The N2003 demo that is going around is a leaked media beta demo. There are known issues, bugs, and missing features in the media demo. It seems lots of people think it's the release demo. Just a heads up that it is NOT! The real thing is being worked on as we speak. -- www.sascar.com
I gather you mean to say this was, gasp, *leaked*... Gracious! Pretty obvious, actually, comparing the state of readiness to previous Papy releases (and the readme that says it's an 80%-finished beta demo). But it's fun to mess with in the meantime, and I'll certainly reserve final judgment till the real one pops up. As if I weren't going to buy it anyway... ;-) SB "Rodney Arndt" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:TojX9.87774$[email hidden]...

Actually the demo is still in the process of being completed, and if all goes as planned it will be finished this week. It will still need to go through Sierra QA and certification before it can be released however. I'm not sure just how long that process will take, but I'm pretty confidant the official demo will be available before the game hits stores in early Feb. - Eric "Uncle Fester" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > http://www.gonegold.com/index.shtml#Nascar > > I'd say they've since finished working on it. :-)

Everyone knows that this demo was leaked. Papyrus, however, has sanctioned its leakage, even going so far as to post links on Sierra's board. So what you're telling us is nothing new. Maybe you thought the information was new, the way you yelled it into everyone's ear. Try entering a little more quietly next time, and then maybe your oversight wouldn't be so noticeable. Deja vu all over again, I think. Can't work Google smartly enough to find out, but I think there was an almost identical post about 12 months ago. Jan. =---
Realizing the futility of trying to un-ring the bell is a far cry from sanctioning the release. - Eric "Alan Bernardo" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:OrmX9.80505$kH3.13766@sccrnsc03... > Everyone knows that this demo was leaked. If this is a beta demo, I'll bet there are a lot of people who eagerly await the real demo. We've all seen demos before, and some of them are very, very bad. But here we have a beta demo which is actually very, very good. I'm not sure who the original poster of this so-called warning is, but my guess is that he's just a regular guy, with no affiliation at all to Papyrus. He's a guy who apparently wants to be heard, who thinks he has some new information or knows the scoop, his importance to himself possibly resting on these very things. That's my take, psychologically speaking. :) Alanb "Eric Busch" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:b0kslk$f4b$[email hidden]...

It is very obvious from the moment you jump on the track that significant time was spent on this release, and it's still an early build. I'm also very excited by the damage model, which seems more geared towards punishment than playability. Jason

Dave, I've noticed. hehe Still, what's with all the CAPs? That's what disturbs me. It sounded as if they guy wants to sound important, which still might be the case. I saw the guy's post at a bunch of spots on the net. In fact, the exact same message was posted earlier, on this forum. The mistake is mine, but what's with this guy? Thank you. But they guy still appears to me to be a little odd, posting in CAPs like he did. We all knew it was a leaked beta demo, didn't we? What's he afraid of? I say he's still a nobody. :) But really, the guy struck me as that way, blasting off, in a kind of child-like way. Rodney may be who he is, but his post (CAPs and all) still strikes me as odd. Rodney is a dedicated Nascar sim racer, and he's obviously also an emotionally dedicated beta tester of N2k3 who's trying to support this product as best he can by giving the community (us!) information it needs to evaluate said product properly. I can see nothing wrong with this, and the fact that he wants us to know about this still being an 80% finished beta demo is perfectly understandable to me - and probably to anyone else who's ever participated in the development and making of a new product. Rodney's message may have sounded a little excited, but that's how you sound when you're enthusiastic :-) Thanks for the info Rodney! I was asked to post that message in order to avoid the confusion about an incomplete demo and one that has bugs. We wanted to let everyone know that many updates have been implemented since that release. I posted in caps so the message would stick out. You're right, I'm nobody special. I'm no different than everyone else in this world, I put my pants on one leg at a time. I apologize for coming off as blasting as you call it. That was not my intent. It was apparent by some of the posts that everyone didn't know it was a leaked demo. Papyrus asked me to help them out and post that message. Until the past week, I'm lucky if I post about 1 message a year on these forums. One of the reasons why is because everyone becomes so defensive & takes everything the wrong way. What happened to newsgroups being an informative place to come read ideas, suggestions, get help, & find out what's new & exciting? Why does every post have to turn into a complaint forum & and pissing match? Please hang with me a couple more weeks & I'll crawl back into my hole & never post anything again. Sorry for the confusion there, Rodney. In the end, I'm relieved. The way everyone was talking, I thought your were Jesus. That would've been the end of me, with no hope of getting to the highest of heights. :) Case closed. I'll shut up now. Well put :) Larry "Eric Busch" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:b0kslk$f4b$[email hidden]... > Realizing the futility of trying to un-ring the bell is a far cry from > sanctioning the release. > > - Eric
I suspect the RLD (Real Life Demo) probably will have a totally different track. If it's released _before_ Daytona, then Daytona would seem like the likely suspect. For heavens sake, no flat cookie cutter, please :) Larry "Dave Henrie" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Um.. He is trying to be helpful and informative, unlike you. I guess we should damn him. Grow up Alan. Helpful? The hole world knew the demo was a beta. Here I thought, by the way everyone was saying Rodney was a god, that he worked for Papyrus and was an integral part of Nascar 2003's development. But he's a beta tester and is well known in the sim racing community. That explains most of what he said and confirms my initial suspicions. And it confirms, also, that it's best not to question the intentions of someone whom this board must adore, unless you want to be ripped. But, heck, I can handle it. Life goes on. haha Alanb "Wayne Bradley" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:b0ov7j$ako$[email hidden]...
