It seems like people who dont use windshield buildup vs people who do use it
have a huge advantage when someone decides to drive around with a wrecked
engine. (as i found out today ;-) )
Will RASCAR use NR2003 hardcore mode?
A driver asked whether RASCAR would force NR2003's hardcore mode, since windshield dirt and smoke handicap some drivers. John Simmons said no: races would use the fixed fast setup and fixed weather, with drivers asked to switch off aids, because hardcore mode does not disable driving aids. Posters also established that sun glare was not part of hardcore mode despite what the manual said.

May sound stupid, but I am absolutely hooked on that dirty windshield.

No. We'll be driving the same way we did last season (at least for
now).
It will be:
Fixed setup (fast)
Fixed weather at 70 degerees, no wind, clear
Nothing forced on
We can't prevent it, but everyone should be driving with NONE of the
driving aids on except maybe clutch help (not all of us have clutch
pedals).
The only thing I don't like about Hardcore mode is they included Solar
Flares. That should have never been done. This option can KILL frame rates
if you are not running a high-end machine.
It's not a problem for me (at least I don't think it is), but I'm sure it
will be for some.

Two things.
1) Solar Flare is NOT part of hardcore mode
2) Solar flare is a big hit if you are using AA or Open GL. So it can be
setup to be used. Granted most people won't take the time to figure it out.
MadDAWG
Well, I just read in the manual that Solar Flare IS part of Hard Core.

A late change, apparently, due to the big FPS hit.

Sometimes, things in development do change between the "Gold" date of the
manual and the Gold date of the actual software. That change was pretty
late iirc.

The hit occurs with either rasterizer if you have AA enabled, and worse in
OGL.

Sun glare is *not* part of the hardcore settings. Hardcore is "force
cockpit smoke, and windshield dirt on.

...can we vote on it or something?
In article <yCX0a.3040$[email hidden]>, [email hidden]

No voting. It will not be hardcore mode. Why? Because hardcore mode
does not disable driving aids at the same time as it forces other
settings. Not very hardcore if you ask me.
Drive it the way it's most comfortable (or realistic) for you.
