Fixing RASCAR server login and invite IDs

EldredP and John Simmons troubleshot why some RASCAR drivers could not join the race server without a password, testing IDs on John's practice server and re-creating entries in the invite list. Bruce Kennewell joined the league, prompting a running joke about his age.

I wonder if ian was accidently added to the muzzle file... :) I have an idea. I'll setup my practice server, making double-damn sure that those are the ID's it's expecting, and I'll change the password to something else. Sometime during the next couple of days, you guys try to log on.

Okay, the practice server is up ("Rascar 2003"), so you guys can try to connect. You should probably remove the password you're currently using before trying to connect. If you can't connect, let me know, and I'll try to finger out what's wrong.

John, just connected to your server without a problem (no password). Though I seem to remember being able to connect fine to it in the past even though I couldn't get into Eldred's server. -- Ian P <email invalid due to spammers>

Before today, I was running with the same admin password as eldred. For this test, there is no admin password. I think one of two things is possible: 1) Eldred's entry for you in the invite file is wrong 2) Eldred has inadvertantly muzzled you on the server.

Maybe the best test is for Eldred to make double damn sure your id is correct in the invite file (also making sure he doesn't have any spaces in your id), and then making sure he doesn't have you in a muzzle file. Once he's satisfied, he can throw the server up and see if you can join.

1) I tried deleting and re-creating Ian's and ZZ's IDs. Maybe there was a ctrl-character screwing things up... 2) I've NEVER had a muzzle list on that server... I just started my server running a loop of Michigan, Infineon, and Daytona. It will run until about 7:30am eastern tomorrow morning. If you guys get a chance, see if you can login. I'll also try to run it tomorrow after work. Eldred -- Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPLRank:-1.950 MonsterRank: +305.145 N2002 Rank:+17.59 Never argue with an idiot. Eldred, Although I can log into John's server, I can't log into yours (Infineon was the track when I just tried) - but then you may not have enabled me yet. Regards, Bruce. "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <[email hidden]>, JohnSimmons

I was gonna waity until the last possible minute again. It lends a certain amount of excitement to the pre-race practice session. :) An email is forthcoming. :)
Ummmm......., Monday, I think. Or over the weekend sometime. I figured that, as I get out of bed at 5:30 AM each weekday, doing so on a Sunday morning for a 6:00 AM race (our time) was no big deal. :) Bruce.
