Hello fans of SBDT and GT Racing 2002.
There have been a lot of questions about the future of SBDT and our upcoming
releases, and we are going to address those questions, and many of the
rumors circulating in our sim racing community.
Currently our team is working diligently on a new game that will truly blow
you away, and make GT Racing 2002 look like just another mod. We have a
slightly changed lineup and our new members are already producing brilliant
work. SBDT is better than ever, and burning with a new flame. The attention
to detail and realism that you've grown to love and expect from SBDT has
only increased.
We have been experimenting with new technologies to bring us all one step
closer to that racing nirvana we are all searching for, so expect to see
some new things that you haven't seen in any racing game to date. We've also
taken to heart many suggestions from the community, along with the physics
debate that has been going on in this community well before our time. This
game will be bigger and better than ever. More detailed, more exacting, more
accurate physics, better multiplayer (thanks to the improvements to the
engine), and a bigger lineup.
While we cannot release the exact details of what we are working on at the
moment, an official statement will be issued in a few days, so stay tuned.
Trust us, your eyes will bleed with pleasure. It will definitely be worth
the wait.

SimBin hints at a major new project
An announcement on the SimBin (GTR2002 mod team) site hinted at something big beyond its mods. Posters speculated on whether it would use the NR2003 or ISI engine, leading to an argument over which had better physics, with Mika Takala noting ISI computes suspension in real time. Goy Larsen hinted at Aussie V8 work on the Papyrus engine.
Automated summary.
Sweet :-)

After playing GTR2002 more than any other racing game ever, I really think
these guys should get hired by EA or someone. GTR2002 could have easily been
an expansion pack, or separate game from EA and it would have done great,
even if not in terms of sales. Im sure it still would have been profitable
for EA to buy GTR2002 or have funded it's development.
Obviously I can't wait to see what it's going to be..

I doubt it. They generally seem to prefer to use the engine with the best
physics.

Thats arse backwards then. N2k3 has a much better physics engine than F12k2.
Anyone suggesting otherwise is a) stupid b) a liar
However - their latest announcement suggests they'll be using ISI's latest
engine ( thus f12k2 )

well, N2k3 surely has better feel and F12k2 has way too much highspeed grip,
but...
Papy's physics use pre-determined curves, variables and functions for
suspension modeling, but ISI's engine models them in real time. Papy's
engine really isn't very comfortable for modders; a lot of research has to
ne done to calculate those functions. With ISI engine, you can better and
more easily simulate different kinds of cars by inputting right suspension
configurations and geometries.
The information / concept might not be correct, but this is how I have
understood it from reading various interviews and forums.

Well, I'd have only been interested in this if the physics have been
done right. Oh, and as long as its got decent multiplayer support.
Hate to be moving my card on to pile 3 to find that I got that I got
some bad latency and my card ploughed through pile 3, taking out piles
4, 5 and 6 along the way. Cards everywhere. It'd be very messy.

While Simbin does indeed have a wealth of roadcouse modding
experience..they have ZERO knowledge of the Papyrus systems. It would take
them probably a year just to get comfortable with the way Papyrus stuff
works and then another year to get something out the door. Can you afford
to wait two years for a first time effort??? :)

Definately NOT F1 2k2....Any mod/sim comming out after this summer will
almost assurdedly be using F1 C.

There's a rendering of a Falcon 3do (along with a couple T/A cars and NL
era Torino) at The Pits' forums.

Since I have very little (read "no") talent in this area myself, I'm
fortunate enough to be associated with some of the most talented people
there is in this area, it was only a couple of hours ago I saw the
latest renderer of the Commodore :-), it wasn't a Castrol Perkins
Commodore, but there you go :-)
The next TPTCC patch ought to be something special if we can piece it
all together :-)
