Best sim for stock cars, rally and open-wheel

A poster asked for the best simulation in stock car, rally and formula categories. NASCAR Racing 2003 Season and Rally Trophy were near-unanimous picks, while answers for formula cars varied between Grand Prix Legends, F1 2002, F1 Challenge 99-02, Grand Prix 4 and netKar. A side argument considered whether 'best' means most realistic or most enjoyable, with Colin McRae Rally dismissed as arcade.

He asked what was the best, not was the most realistic. Big difference when it comes to entertainment. Bruce. "ymenard" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:Xj9Ja.10693$[email hidden]... > > > CMR3 is not a realistic rally sim. >
But isn't asking what the best "Simulation" the exact same as asking what is the most realistic? If we are going by eye-candy, then I'd get GPL out of there.. it looks a little dated by now. He did say "sim" though Bruce, not game. To me and I think many others, that automatically implies realism as well. CMR is really arcadey, so it gets almost no points on realism. -- Biz "Don't touch that please, your primitive intellect wouldn't understand alloys and compositions and,......things with molecular structures,....and the....." - Ash "Bruce Kennewell" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3ef54341$[email hidden]... > He asked what was the best, not was the most realistic. > Big difference when it comes to entertainment. > > Bruce. > "ymenard" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:Xj9Ja.10693$[email hidden]... > > > > > > CMR3 is not a realistic rally sim. > > > > >
Well - the term "best" is subjective. In other words, it is defined by opinions and, as we are well aware, everyone has differing opinions. Therefore, in my opinion, "best" in this context relates to overall enjoyment and the "eye-candy" (as you refer to it) is only part of the recipe. I just happen to like the three games I mentioned..........i.e., it's my subjective opinion. Bruce. A rose by any other name........... They're ALL games. :) Bruce. "Biz" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3zcJa.16315$[email hidden]... > He did say "sim" though Bruce, not game.

Dark Horse: Netkar - Stefano Casillo (PC) http://forum.racesimcentral.com/t.php?s=&threadid=81886 (can't find official site??) Also worth sampling is: Live for Speed - Scawen Roberts/Eric Bailey/Victor van Vlaardingen (PC) http://www.liveforspeed.net Jan. =--- PS.: there's a slight pattern with regard to platform in this reply... <vbg>

The original person said "I highlight the word SIM". That excludes such arcade games like CMR3, whatever fun they may be. -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- http://ymenard.cjb.net/ -- This announcement is brought to you by the Shimago-Dominguez Corporation - helping America into the New World...
