Flame warRASCAR Pocono feud between Tim and David G Fisher

After an aggressive three-wide move into turn 1 at Pocono, Tim accused David G Fisher of reckless driving and using traction control and threatened retaliation, and Fisher replied with insults. Others weighed in on restart behaviour, gearing and pedal calibration, and Jan Verschueren posted yellow-flag statistics showing half the race ran under caution. The thread later drifted to grievances over David Fisher's past trolling.

Dave, what pisses me off is not only did you slam it into T1 making it 3 wide, you did it late, and you drove in too hard and washed up, AND you acted like I deserved it. Forget the poor guy caught outside I had to avoid cause of you. It was all I could do not to wreck everyone else. Turn off the freakin traction control next time and it won't be so obvious. I did not 'block' you on the restart, I moved over, passing others, at the S/F. Um, a half mile before T1 I might add. If John doesn't kick your sorry ass out for that, I'll make it my mission to move you each and every time, until I get kicked out. Guys like you are why people don't race pickups. -- Tim White www.intracmotorsports.com

"Tim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:0ACUa.291689$[email hidden]... > Dave, what pisses me<snip> Well, guys. Here is my take. I said something to Larry last week and his response was, "On green I go". That is fair enough I guess, If you like to wreck..... Dave and Tim both went on green ok, but from way back. They were almost at full race speed by the time they both passed me just past the start finish line. I was at the back of the pack. So the rest of the field is barely getting up to speed, slowing into one when these two Kamikazi's come flyin in. I don't know about anyone getting put in the wall but these are not necessary. I was damaged in quite a few restart blowups, I don't mind so much but I would like to know what it is like to have a fighting chance. The body of my car looked ok but I could not drive fast at all. Then around lap fifty I pitted on a caution just so I could make it to the end, when I left the pits I no longer had third gear, as soon as I shifted into third coming on the track it started shimmying and shaking and over-revving :-( From that point on I was a chicane, not really as I thought I could beat the leaders to the checkers. Wish I had parked it now as I had nothing to gain really and ended up causing the final caution, not only no race to checker but BOTH leaders hit me :-( Very Sorry about that. I have no idea what happened, went into the corner and just kept sliding, nothing helped. I finally looped it right back up the track and played merry go round for a while. I had no idea what had happened till I watched the replay. Oh and just to get this out of my system. Tim, you drive good ok, but damnit you were doing the same kind of kamikaze pass on me when your "engine blew" and you spun up the track right in front of me. A little patience would go a long way toward all of us completing and competing instead of pacing these races. I was as fast as anyone in the corners and was giving ample room to pass on the straights. Damnit all to Hell! One of these days, one of these days I will run a competitive race (thinking "little engine that could"). Sean #12

What appears to you as "kamikaze" is merely people that were a lot faster than you (and me).
"John Simmons" wrote... > > <snip> > What appears to you as "kamikaze" is merely people that > were a lot faster than you (and me). On the other hand, people who are good enough to enter the turns that fast are good enough to realise that others may not be good enough to deal with finding another car on a piece of road they had intended on using. I am one of the slower drivers in RASCAR and I will make no excuses for it. I won the SOAR Look-Ahead-Series last year because I participated in every race and stuck them out to take away top ten finishes as people ruined their chances getting into incidents. I currently lead the ESCORS "Dutch All Pro" Touring series in much the same way. I'm not the quickest driver of the bunch, but (also seeing as both are/were open setup) I am the most consistent finisher. Anyway... if no-one has a fender on me at turn-in, I will turn in at my speed, using my chosen line and anybody coming up behind will have to deal with that. Sometimes, when someone is gaining on me hand over fist or a habitually faster driver is behind me on a restart, I will stay high and present an opportunity in order not to lose time with regard to those whom my fight is really with, but that's about it. When it comes down to the crunch, then following driver has the better overview of the situation and must act accordingly, IMO. Jan. =---
"John Simmons" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > What appears to you as "kamikaze" is merely people that were a lot > faster than you (and me). > Both of the runs I am referring to as Kamikaze were on restarts going into the corner. I also realize that a lot of straight away speed does not always translate into good corner traction. I have learned that the hard way. Just because you can charge fast down the straight does not mean you can then dive under a car to pass in the corner and expect to keep the car on line. I have been told I need to learn how to drive to avoid being a menace on the track. The point I am trying to make is that the experienced drivers need to use their head as well. I have seen far too many incidents in RASCAR where drivers are making moves just because they have speed when the wise thing to do would be to back off and wait for an opening. I think if we could get more drivers to do that we would have far less yellows. I personally take it easy on restarts, I will let everyone behind me pass if I have to ( and usually do ) in order to keep plenty of distance to try and avoid incidents. This strategy alone is getting me to the end of races, even if I do end up a bit worse for wear. Yeah, yeah, I know I am a rook and should keep my place. I am not trying to put anyone down. It isn't even wrong so much, just not conducive to green flag racing. Consider warp, connection rate, even other drivers skill. I think many/most of these fast guys would finish better and happier if they wait for an opening and let the traffic thin. Sean #12

Do you have a replay of my run in with Tim on or around lap 20 at T1? If you do, would you mind clipping it from right beofre the restart of that lap until after T1 and then sending it to me? His threats have me extremely pissed off. He's also accusing me of using traction control in order to race wrecklessly. I don't use traction control.
Tim 27 Jul 2003 03:18 UTC↳ reply to McWhom#60050
I'm not sure what 'way back means' but I'll check the replay when it gets uploaded. But in all honesty I don't think the two wrecks were the same. When my engine blew, possibly me being trigger happy with the gears, or some earlier damage, I'm pretty sure I was already pass you. For the record, you will NOT see me hit the gas before the spotter says 'green'; never. I defie anyone to present a replay showing otherwise. As well, anyone who throttles thru the gears on a rs at Pocono is asking to get passed. If someone else cannot get thru the gears as quick as others, then restarts at Pocono are about as simple to pass as any other track being it's the longest straitaway in WC. And because of that it can also be the safest time to pass on that track. There is plenty of time to decide whether or not to back off before T1. AND I did my share of staying in line early on doing just that. What David did was different. He never passed me until well into the turn. He ran as low as he could heading into the turn, making it 3 wide at the last possible moment, when everyone is braking from 190mph and about to shift. And he lost it driving it too hard right when I hit him. His excuse, of course, is me blocking him on a restart, which I also want to see. If it happened, I'll bet you your lunch money it was right before the turn, and not in the middle of the track. I didn't block Ginger when I got dive bombed in T3 and I got into the wall with damage trying to get out it's way. So please explain to me just how many times am I supposed to put up with that in less than 30 laps? David and I were not in last place, more than half the field is behind us. Someone is on the outside of me, just starting to back off I believe. So staying low and on the throttle is the only place I could safely go once top gun decides it's fuck or fight. Oh, and there's one other difference between what I did to you and what David did to me; I apologized for mine. -- Tim White www.intracmotorsports.com "McWhom" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Oh and just to get this out of my system. I guess you just don't like someone trying to pass you on a restart??? Too bad. It happens. Now way was I going to let you get away with that shit. I took a very low line into T1 because that's all I had available due to you and your blocking the whole front straight. I'm not getting pushed around on the track by you or anyone else. I passed someone on every restart and no one moved over on me like you did. I passed JS on the very next restart, and he acted correctly. I WAS NOT USING traction control so I could drive wrecklessly and take chances, so go screw yourself. I've probably caused the fewest yellows of any of the RASCAR regulars, even last year when I had multiple screen freezes in almost every race. Don't fucken accuse me of driving like some driver in a pickup race. Your threat to wreck me ("watch your back 19") was seen by everyone and should result in you being banned. You did it again in this thread. Somebody better do something about you because I better not see you do one mother fucking thing on the track around me that looks even slightly suspicious. You were both in front of me on the restart. I still say you both went in way too hot fighting for position in the first corner of a restart. It was the restart right after this one that Tim, I believe missed a shift and lost it going into the corner hot on a restart. Engine smoke started after the tire smoke did. As for replays, I do have it. I think you may want to base any issues you two have on the server replay instead of an individual one. I also put it to the admins whether or not I should jump in the middle of this discussion by providing any replays. Sean #12

Or what lol, what the hell you gonna do about it? lolol mr nospam FYI, rocky ... The chat I sent about jumping was not for anyone in particular. If it was for anyone it would've been for the people up front. I didn't know if they were jumping or not. I didn't really care actually. I just took it upon myself to mention it. Sue me. But if your feeling guilty about jumping on the restart, the replay will show it. The fact that you fail to understand any of what happened today just proves your lack of confidence in your own skills since the only way you could've out shifted me was if I was actually letting up for traffic. SO you were either jumping, or you were wreckless, take your pick. The reason I moved over, certainly in a more safe way than you ever could've, was because traffic ahead was already moving around. Since I got to them before you did, it should have been obvious why I moved over but you chose instead to think someone wanted to fuck your pretty little ass lol. But noooo, you weren't going to put up with that huh. So you slammed it into T1, risking everyone else, beside us, behind us, just cause your lame ass can't grasp squat. -- Tim White www.intracmotorsports.com > > David G Fisher > >

The lap 20 'incident' that Tim refers to involved me. I was in 7th ahead of Tim, who was ahead of David. They both get a good run down the straight. Tim takes the inside and slows a bit to avoid hitting me in the turn. David sees a chance to take advantage of Tim's lost momentum and goes farther inside. When I heard "3-wide", I hit the brakes. 2 spots lost. David drifts high, Tim dives back inside. They make contact, get sideways, but don't crash. I lock up trying to keep from punting Tim. 3 MORE cars go by on the inside, and the lost momentum eventually costs me a couple more spots. Meanwhile someone farther ahead wrecks, and we're back under yellow again. What I don't understand is how the hell people can go so much faster than me on the restarts. We all have the same gearing, so that's not it. I hit the gas as soon as we get green, but I lost spots on damn near every restart. Are you using buttons on the wheel, or a shifter - Buttons are quicker. Do you use a clutch - Manual clutch is for really really advanced drivers, turn it on auto. Do you lift slightly off the gas when shifting - Depends on the gear ratio and the track; Pocono it should not be a problem to keep it floored. Do you let the rpms wind out to as far as you can without blowing the engine before shifting - Only practice will tell you where that point is, but it should be well up the scale. Do you steer at all while going thru the gears - Don't. Actually Pocono is a great track to practice changing gears ... If you want ... Run an offline race (load the fast setup) Set # of AI to 1, 99% Pace Lap OFF Full damage ON Skip qualifying, go right to race. Right at the turn, when your letting off the gas, ESC, and restart race without going back to menu. With practice eventually you should be able to beat him to the turn (your on the outside). I used to sprint swimming in college, no false start rule. So listening for Any sound and it jolting me is/was kinda habitual for awhile :) Listen for the spotter, but once your comfortable with it, also listen for the radio click. That sometimes goes off like a milisecond before he yells green. Pace lap off, starts you in T3 and use damage off to see how much you can press it before the engine blows. Also helps practicing avoiding a BF for JUMPING THE START :))))) Sorry, could not resist that last one :) -- Tim White www.intracmotorsports.com "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > What I don't understand is how the hell people can go so much faster than me on > the restarts. Eldred, Are you sure you're getting full power from your pots? Try to calibrate the pedals again - but this time only allpy 95-98% of throttle - leaving a tiny bit of travel, so when you 'boot it' - you can be sure you get full power. Did you catch my comment on how slow my car seemed? In my case it probably has some to do with my experience, but I don't understand how on a drag race to the flag I can be slower when we all have the same setup. Does car body make a difference? Is the 2k3 model supposed to be aero similar as the real cup cars are? If a different manufacturer is faster in the game model, do I have the ability to change to that make? Sean # 12

I was using auto trans, so I didn't have the benefit of running 2nd gear up as high as it would go, thus leaving me at a disadvantage on restarts because everyone else got more speed more quickly (unless they were missing a gear). I stayed high because the low line was the preferred one for getting through turn 1 and also because people weren't getting so much of a run on me tht I needed to let them pass me on the outside. I also didn't have anyone on the outside keeping me from giving you room. I'm sure that once you guys calm down, you'll both realize that you were each a little more aggressive on the restart than you should have been and it was one of them racin' deals.

Judging by the number of cautions we have, nobody that's already in RASCAR does either. :)

I have noticed that some drivers are getting a run on people at the restart and then passing at the first turn. A division that I raced at last year had a "rule" that said no passing before the first turn. This eliminated the wrecks there but you still have racers who take risk and makes the other driver want to block which is a bad deal too. As long as moderate damage is in place, I think these risk-takers are going to keep doing what they do best because they have little to loose. grub . ldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > In article <[email hidden]>, "McWhom" > <[email hidden]> writes: > > >Open mouth, insert foot. We don't have "rules" that extend beyond what the sim itself enforces. Making such a rule won't solve anything in RASCAR because most of the restart cautions are caused by people not being able to handle their cars in anything other than optimal conditions - NOT by over-aggressive passing moves. The real problem on restarts is that only a nandful of cars are doing anything close to the actual pace speed when the green flag drops. I think the sim is too liberal on it's parameters for a restart. It should take into account how fast everyone is going and how far apart they are. If all the criteria for a restart are not met, you should get another caution lap.
In article <[email hidden]>, [email hidden] (John Simmons) wrote: > Judging by the number of cautions we have, nobody that's already in > RASCAR does either. :) Heh. I think you could improve the situation by forcing everyone to race with at least *one* major injury. LOL You say threats mean something, John says they don't :) You guys might want to have a talk next time before you make a decision like that since it's cost you one driver for good. I hate to do this too Eldred but considering RASCAR has no rules, I would think the whole point of racing here is what happens ON the track, not in a ng. I did nothing wrong imho. So I don't accept your one race suspension. A supposedly experienced racer makes a stupid move forcing me out of his way for whatever reason his decides, makes no apologies, I get upset and tell him I'll remember it, and we hash it out here. And that upsets you, fine. If it matters, I think your wrong, but it's your league. You manage it the best way you decide, I have no problem with that. Please just understand if I decide how much that matters to me. I was not overly aggresive. If you'll check, I was running that restart pretty much exactly the way I did the others, and the same way I would've ran the rest. Try entering T1 at Pocono, in traffic, going 140+mph with that setup and then shift, with the rpms so low. If you think I was aggressive there I have to take from that you probably don't like any of my driving. And there's certainly no reason for me to have to agree with you. Racing here on Saturday has never been a highlight of my week. It has been really great racing way too infrequently and there is no sign of improvement. Has anyone really, honestly, significantly improved as a direct result of racing with RASCAR? I'm sure there probably has, but I wasn't one of them. I wasn't even AT this weeks race (unfortunately), and I gotta get into this crap? Look, Sean. If you are in someone's way, you should fully expect them to SAFELY pass you if possible. Since I never came anywhere near you (and frankly, I don't even know what the hell you are talking about), I'll have to assume there is no issue. Don't get pissed for getting passed. It happens, and that's racing. And for your information, I rarely cause incidents in RASCAR, thank you. -Larry "McWhom" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Well, guys. I agree totally with Ed. When you calibrate your throttle, do it twice. On the first pass, write down the max numbers for the Throttle. On the second pass, calibrate normally, but on the Throttle stop short by 5 marks when you are pressing down. This won't get you any 'extra' throttle, but it does help in making sure a pot a bit loose in tolerance won't cheat you either. -Larry "Ed Solheim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3f2363b5$[email hidden]... > > "EldredP" said: > > > Meanwhile someone farther ahead wrecks, and we're back under yellowagain. > > What I don't understand is how the hell people can go so much fasterthan > me on > > the restarts. I would say there is general agreement that you were both at fault here. You are both threatening each other which is really stupid when you consider this is a game. My real issue right now with you is that you are saying you will quit rather than accept a cooling off period. I happen to think that is a good idea for you both. I almost quit over being constantly bitched at but after following the conversations in here, thought better of it realizing that I was being oversensitive and that racing in a group of *serious* drivers was what I was looking for. You complain that RASCAR is not the highlight of your week. Why is that? Because of all the cautions? Don't you realize that most of the cautions we had were because of someone trying to race so hard they did not consider the consequences of trying to gain a couple of postions in heavy traffic? Maybe you should consider how the race would have gone , or any of our races would go if the drivers would just use some patience. I completely agree with you, the races can be very boring, I stuck it out to the end yesterday because that is the challenge for me at this point, to make it to the end of the race. It would be a lot more FUN if we could have some green flag racing. We won't get that as long as we have drivers out there thinking that this is for money, prestege, or ranking. This is for fun for chris' sake. Be patient, be curteous, and watch the number of green flag laps go up, then you can use your experience and talents to gain positions and try for the win, or maybe even be smarter than others and win with pit strategy. As long as drivers try to win it in the first lap or first corner that will never happen. So......If you are going to quit because of a flap over you and another driver fighting for postion in the first corner on the restart fine. See Ya. That is one less driver I have to watch out for causing wrecks on the restart. Just remember, you were involved in TWO incidents in the first corner on a restart in succession, whatever excuse you want to make, you lost it in turn one and slid up the track directly in front of me becuase you could not handle your line/speed/gearshift and it cost me. Your apology kinda goes out the window after seeing this thread and that you consider that good racing, I sure did not consider it good racing for me! Sean #12

Tim, I can honestly say _I_ have improved racing in RASCAR. This is my second year. I have never had a problem winning at SuperSpeedways. I _should_ win at SuperSpeedways. I have tens of thousands of miles logged at Dega and Daytona. However, I was never really any good at short-tracks. It is in RASCAR that I learned slower is faster at these tracks. Let off early, roll in, accellerate out. Gives you better exit speed. I never really understood this until I started racing here, and was forced to run ALL of the tracks on a schedule. And I'm getting a lot better at Road Courses too, solely based on my racing in RASCAR. Personally, I get a LOT out of this. And I thank Eldred for making it possible. -Larry "Tim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8%TUa.293266$[email hidden]... > LOL > And there's certainly no reason for me to have to agree with you. Just so everyone knows, I have NEVER once (in seven years of online racing) said anything negative to someone about their driving when in a race. I also have never come to this forum and complained at someone about anything they did in a RASCAR race (about 60 now I'd guess) unless they started with me first, as Tim did yesterday. There's been plenty of times when I could have, but that's not my style. The only thing I have done is rip our group collectively for our SS performances. I also included smiley faces in that post so it wouldn't be taken too seriously. David G Fisher

An incident happened that didn't even bring out a yellow flag, and all of a sudden TIM messages a threat which said "watch your back 19". That's a threat to wreck me. You and JS said nothing in response. WTH do you expect me to do? Just sit there, say nothing in response, and wait for him to waste my Sat. afternoon and wreck me the next chance he gets? TIM then comes here after the race, BEFORE I've made any posts at all, and threatens to wreck me again with the line, "If John doesn't kick your sorry ass out for that, I'll make it my mission to move you each and every time, until I get kicked out." No why the hell am I getting suspended. HE threatens to wreck me in the race FIRST, then he comes here and threatens to wreck me again if I show up at THE NEXT RACE. How the hell do you expect me to react? Especially when JS had replied to his post an hour and a half before I had read it, and done NOTHING. Neither of you said a word about his threat during the race (I was waiting for you two to say SOMETHING), and JS did nothing when he read his threat here. I have never once in all the RASCAR races said a negative word to any individual during a race about their driving. Not once. I never dreamed of threatening to wreck someone no matter how pissed I got at them for whatever dumb move they made which screwed up my race. I've never come here and complained about anyone's driving after a race either. I've only talked about other people's driving when they've criticised me first (like Tim). What are you talking about? Tim and I are suspended. You and Eldred run RASCAR.Why the hell are Tim and I both suspended if neither of us have broken any rule?? You and Eldred are apparently making these rules up as you go along. If that's how you are going to do things, then at least hand out the suspensions to those that deserve them. The one who deserves it is the one who threatened to wreck another driver first over nothing more than a "racing incident" (as you described it), and then came here and made another threat to wreck that same driver if he showed up to any more RASCAR races. Although not the first, it is probably the biggest. Most leagues will not tolerate a public airing, hence the suspension IMHO. That's exactly what I said... <g> Probably not the right question, but it was all I could think of at the time. It's got to be something I can type lefthanded in 14-odd seconds. Uncalled for in hindsight and probably at the time as well. I was on edge as the succession of yellows was a) denying me any benifit from my approach to the track and b) kept putting me in a dangerous situation with regard to the leaders at the restarts. As I'm doing the reviews I have to be twice as carefull not to start a wreck or get involved in one, so you can probably imagine, having dropped the laps due to having to reconnect early in the race, that was quite a stressfull situation.
Quoted text (8 lines)> Maybe he was slower there because he was offline > after passing you. Or, maybe that was the only place > he was slower. All good points, but it was not that kind of situation. I was holding up Neil and Mark a little, but I don't think either was "enough" quicker to simply pass at will. Seeing as I was 3 laps down and they were on the lead lap, however, I did the right thing, moved high in T1 and lifted to allow Neil through. I could see Mark following suit so I held off mashing the accellerator again for just a tick and let him go too. While he was not quite up to the wall starting the turn (he could have been if he wanted to tho'), I expected him to get through the turn at normal speed. Instead it appeared as if my courtesy was rewarded with a brake check. I say "appeared" as a a comparison between my replay and the server replay shows up some serious weirdness. In the server replay I appear to barrel into the turn way too hot, jump the kerb/lock up the brakes, barely miss Mark and start to spin; Robert Huggins just about squeezing though as I come down the track again. I my replay I drive the turn as I normally would, brake because of what I thought was Mark slowing abruptly, lock up the right front (77% front brake bias?? -Sheesh!) which starts the car rotating, aggravated by the left front going up on the curb a little. I lose it spinning down into the side Robert Huggins(*), which explains the odd behaviour of my car in the server replay (bouncing off thin air). Also, in my replay, Mark's car slows to 134mph compared to 143mph in the server replay. At that point I'm usually at 146-148 mph... still faster but not a lot faster. I probably could have managed slowing 5mph without a panic reaction/losing control, but not 14 mph. It's pretty obvious my game was seriously out of step, possibly enough to warrant a clock smash. Perhaps one occurred during the incident, I don't know. I wasn't exactly looking at the comm. meters before/during/after. But that's no excuse, so: humble pie... my fault entirely, got spooked by a connection glitch. My snipe and subsequent terse remarks aimed at Mark were totally uncalled for, my apologies. Jan. =---

Yes, it is ridiculous. The thing is, I didn't bring this to this newsgroup and make it a public airing. Tim did. I showed up and found a post with my name in it, with a threat to wreck me attached. Others had already jumped in by the time I got here. David G Fisher

>Has anyone >really, honestly, significantly improved as a direct result of racing with >RASCAR? Well here I go sticking my nose where it doesn't belong again. In answer to the question is there anyone who has improved from running RASCAR….yep…me. Tolerance among the lessons learned. IMO there is a learning curve just adjusting to the fast setup. The first year it seemed I couldn't run a race without hitting Jan in one fashion or another but instead of demeaning he chose to instruct. Recently at PMP I had an incident with Brian O in which we had differing views but it turned into a no problem racing deal with discussion. And NO RASCAR driver is perfect. Some faster than others but they still make mistakes. Everyone knows I'm no threat to win but I do have fun. I actually prefer RASCAR's laid back approach to racing as opposed to the strict rules applied in a couple of leagues that I ran in. I for one hope that it stays the same as it was started.. to race with familiar people and to have fun doing so. I guess it could be worse…last Saturday night there was a shooting at a short track here…after a bumping incident a father pulled a gun on the other driver and was shot dead by the driver who was bumped. Guess that's justice huh? Dan

Seriously, the man *is* a saint for putting with this crap and, yes, I do consider Eldred and John's words to be law in RASCAR. I would expect to be called to order and possibly be penalized for blatant defiance. Eldred controls the invite list, so I wouldn't bet against him. Also, John may be brash, but he's smart enough not to publicly overrule Eldred either. Think about it Dave... you just put your foot in it big time. My official suggestion: take your lumps and practise your butt off in order to take sporting revenge at The Glen. <private mode on> Between you and me (and the rest of RAS <g>), Eldred is a big softie and if you work him right, i.e. grovelingly, he might let you in at IMS. You're good there, remember? -It'd be worth eating some humble pie to be in that race. If, on the other hand, you go about arguing with him and calling his authority into question, then eh... well... <private mode off> > > <snip> > I'm glad you think it's ok that I was threatened to > be wrecked on the track, and then threatened again > to be wrecked here in this group in following races. There two sides to this... One: it is indeed completely unthinkable to entertain the notion of on track vendettas in environment like this. Therefore I think you should treat Tim's comments with the appropriate disdain. It's language unworthy of a driver of his calibre and I'd tackle him on that, calmly and politely, if not sarcastically. I would not shout "wolf" at the top of my voice before anything happened. Two: privately, I would think about what led an accomplished driver like Tim to lash out at me in such a manner. Perhaps an evaluation of my driving style and tactics are in order. Jan. =--- PS.: I consider this doing my bit to smooth things over in RASCAR. Apologies to the group for flaunting this in your faces.

Tim & David, sometimes it's far easier to deny guilt than admit wrong doing or error. I don't know who is wrong or who is right but does it really matter at this point? Having been in the situation before and reacted similarily I can understand the frustration. Nothing will be solved by continuing the battle. Its easy in the heat of the race to lose your cool and do or say things you don't mean. I don't think anyone in this league intentionally tries to cause a wreck or create havoc. If nothing else Rascar should teach you that acting with maturity and grace may serve you better in your racing careers than how many wins or wrecks you have. I realize that we all have ego's and are competitive to a degree but unless I missed something this isn't a win at all costs league. Once the patch is out I am going to try and race again. Even though I have lost much of my own skill and reflexes for reasons beyond my control. I have decided I will race against my own limits rather than other peoples. If I cause problems as a result of my mistakes then I will continue to do laps by myself offline. Over the years I have raced in some of the top leagues against some of the best drivers but thats not what I remember the most. Its the friendships and relationships that have endured. Maybe its the pot calling the kettle black but sometimes I am capable of putting things in there proper perspective. :-) Pete

In all my years of consulting with groups, our RASCAR group is composed of exactly the same personallities you will find in any group. So, dont think that you can avoid these incidents. They are going to happen and its call a racing deal and you get over it. But, we dont need threats and we dont need driving that leads to someone wanting to make a threat. If I wanted to race with a group of drivers with bounties on their head, then I will join one of the papyrus pickup races and try to avoid the wreckers. By the way, I did hear the word wrecker and it sent chills up my spine. My two cents. grub "Jan Verschueren" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:xG_Ua.36682$[email hidden]...

Eldred, what car are you driving. I haven't heard anyone saying that they are different, but I'm none too sure that isn't the case. I've only had this game a couple of days and had been mucking about with the T. Player/Monte Carlo set and had driven around Pocono to compare my lap times with some of the quotes here. Anyway, tonight I decided to put my name into the game and changed to driving the Dodge. Before taking this car out at Pocono I had probably put in 50 or 60 laps there using the Monte Carlo/fast setup with a PB of 54.7, within 3 laps of using the Dodge I was absolutely flying with the fast setup. It was like chalk and cheese. Whereas, with the AI set to 95% I would just draft behind the other cars onto the S/F straight until past the S/F line and then pull out just in time to get my nose halfway alongside an AI car, with the Dodge I was pulling out on the AI almost before I had finished the preceding corner and would be alongside and past BEFORE the S/F line. This car just seems to have more grunt. I only did half a dozen laps which was in traffic which meant I didn't get a clear run, but still managed a 54.3 whilst being baulked by other drivers. I dare say I could possibly gone into the 53's. As another example: When exiting T1 behind an AI driver at 95%, unless I got a superb exit I just had to sit behind him, all the way to T2. With the Dodge I was able to exit T1 behind the AI driver and just blow past him before even reaching T2. It just seems to have more speed. I'm reaching the same rev point ready to change up from 3rd to 4th earlier. So do these cars drive differently and have different performance? Sure as hell seems like it. -- Peter Ives (AKA Pete Ivington) Remove ALL_STRESS before replying via email If you know what's good for you, don't listen to me :) GPLRank Joystick -50.63 Wheel -21.77

Honestly, I wasn't sure what the chats during the race were about. As you said, that incident didn't cause a yellow - someone else did. As I was busy trying to figure out my OWN damn race strategy, I may have missed them. Pardon me for paying more attention to my own race...

I agree with Jan. David, I've seen the incident, you were both at fault. But you instigated it, so you need to accept more of the blame. In my considered view you deserve to be suspended for bad driving and poor sportsmanship. If you'd kept your mouth shut you'd have got away with it though, imo. My advice to you would be to develop your race craft by practicing more. Also, I'd council against publicly asking for some to be banned, as this makes you look like a whining little bed wetter. GDA

David is actually using the traction control algorithym from Cart Precision Racing - an all time classic and favourite of my old buddy Dave! ( This is where David gets his Al Gore Rythem ). Yea it was last year just as we began RASCAR. I lifted on a yellow at Bristol (not avoiding anyone just being cautious) and John didnt think twice about taking the spot. I didnt know guys in non-pickups raced this way as the last pickup I had done was hawaii, maybe a couple on TEN. I was really pissed, I bumped him from behind under caution lightly to let him know I wasnt happy. At the restart I *TOOK* the spot comin outta 2 which didnt make John all too happy. I was on the apron as I made the pass BTW. We musta had a warp, next thing I knew were in a shouting match similar to this. I felt totally wronged and was just going to quit but John pissed me off so bad I wouldnt let him have the satisfaction hehe. We made up and all has been much better 'tween us since. Actually, just ignore me. I need a lie down. I just tried it again and couldn't beat 54.8 with the same setup and default weather. Being in traffic I would have thought would have held me up, especially as the best AI driver was only on 54.7, and yet, in amongst a large pack of 6 or 7 cars which were holding me up in my view, and I did a 54.3. Hey, I said I wanted to spend the whole race at Daytona (unfortunately I got disco'd) drafting with you because you were locked in so perfectly lap after lap. :-)

What you are saying is much different than what I've heard from Eldred or a few others. they seem to want to dish the blame out equally, and that is what has me so pissed off. Someone could drive over the top of me and I still would not threaten to wreck them in the race, and I wouldn't come here and threaten to do it in following races. > BTW, what lap did this happen on? I did not say that, your dreaming. And who says I should play by your rules. You don't. You say you don't punt anyone, you don't dive bomb anyone, yet apparently I'm not the only one who you've done that to. If I had known that, I'd have given you the whole track since you obviously needed it. Maybe you don't think it's reckless driving into a turn so hard you self spin trying to save it but most do. No one in two seasons of RASCAR has ever accused me of dive bombing them or being reckless. I'm one of the drivers who has caused the least amount of yellows. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. I had screen freezes (often multiple) in just about every race in season one and still rarely caused a yellow. Notice he has stopped talking about his Pod Racer career? ;) But now the truth is out, and recorded in replay after replay on the RASCAR site, David is a shit racer! Remember this gem? You may have misunderstood me. I don't regard his not signing the silent tribute as 'contemptuously over the grief and respect shown here in RAS', it was more the trolling he did about NASCAR at the time of the death. Gerry
