My Solution to the RASCAR problem

Proposal to turn off yellow flags in RASCAR

A one-line suggestion to solve the RASCAR dispute by turning off yellow flags was rejected by John Simmons and opposed by Jan Verschueren and others, who said cautions are integral to NASCAR racing. Eldred listed the drawbacks. The thread became another round of Mitch_A questioning Simmons's authority to decide, with a late call for a members' vote.

Faster drivers might now use the chrome horn more when lapping cars because a)it won't bring out a yellow, and b) if they lift for a second the guy behind will be all over them. Again, for the thousandth time. And who the F*&K are you to make that decision? Gee, I voulunteered to help out so I guess Im in charge of all things RASCAR now. Would that be any different than having yellows turned on and not having a yellow flag thrown during the race? "EldredP" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Turning off yellows indeed turns the races into a free for all. I'm vehemently opposed to that idea. Jan. =---

I dont want yellows off either Jan. Thats not the point. The "read my lips" comment doesnt work to well, just ask G.Bush Sr. :-) Hell that comment single handedly elected B.Clinton. Keyword here, "ELECTED". "Jan Verschueren" > > Read my lips then: never, no way, no how. > > Jan. > =--- > >

We know he can't pronounce "nuclear"...
Believe me JS this is one rule Id fight against. Yellows are an integral part of Nascar racing and should be on. See we can occasionally agree on something. Like Ive said before, this isnt anything personal against you or Eldred. I do APPRECIATE what both of you do for RASCAR. Why we can "try-out" or "test" your rules and others are just blatantly refused is my concern. As Ive said over and over. A few small steps at a time to improve the racing and Im in lock-step. Telling me when I can or cant say something/anything is over stepping your bounds totally. . Funny you should mention that... The stop arguing by Tuesday idea was Sean's. See, I do listen, and I do implement good ideas that I think will be beneficial for the group.
I never claimed to anyone's voice but my own unlike the other half. My problem is my voice doesnt count at all and others voices count for everything. Thats against what RASCAR was founded on. Just to be clear, I support making the racing better, some of the many proposed rules have no relationship to better racing and thats the crux. Notice the three I's. "John Simmons" <[email hidden]> wrote in message . See, I do listen, and I > do implement good ideas that I think will be beneficial for the > group. >
Re-re-re-re-hash: RASCAR was formed to give like-minded drivers a place to race longer races without being worried about intentional wreckers ruining their day. The side benefit is supposed to be that we get to know our fellow competitors racing styles and learn how to adapt our own to fit into the grand scheme of racing with the group. Nowhere anywhere ever has there been a stated desire to make sure everyone got to have their own personal set of rules implemented. To provide guidance, the first rules were actually called "guidelines", suggesting proper behaviour onthe track, and what you should/shouldn't in order to promote the clean racing we all really wanted. This season, we decided to make some of the guidelines into actual bona-fide "rules" because of the swell of interest in the league by newbies and aliens alike. In the two years we've been running RASCAR, only three drivers have ever been punished for something, and only one of those was for something they did on the track. The other two were punished because of an overly heated exchange in this newsgroup. Because of these incidents, and the generally lower quality of racing we've been experiencing, the rules were clarified, and actual on- track penalties were announced. Now, you have to repeatedly break the rules to get a suspension, but breaking the rules earns you a black flag for the next race you run in. At least you're still racing (and with a very real chance of still placing well) instead of sitting the race out completely. I think the mere threat of penalties will improve the racing. If someone decides to test the system, everyone will see that I do, in fact mean business, and everyone will then hopefully settle down again, and try to drive smarter and come to races more prepared than earlier in the season. I really don't see why you have a problem with that Mitch. In article <xkN1b.998$[email hidden]>, [email hidden] says...

If we EVER had a RASCAR race without a yellow flag(when it was enabled), I'd probably have a heart attack...<g> Come on, even at Indy Michigan we had 5 flags. If *I* can get around those tracks without wrecking, they're EASY. Most of the rest of the drivers in our group are better than me, but they still crashed. Be democratic about it. Let everyone vote on it.
