RASCAR--Almost Got Kicked Out of Practice Today

Notable threadFlame warDavid Fisher and John Simmons clash over RASCAR practice incident

David G Fisher posted replays claiming John Simmons caused two practice incidents and then threatened to eject him from the server. Several drivers told Fisher he could not admit fault, while Mika Takala reviewed the replays and judged it a racing incident; Simmons said he owned the server and was within his rights. The 195-post thread descended into insults between Mitch_A, McWhom, redTed and others, with only brief humorous interludes.

..........which proves things are out of hand. Download replays here http://home.comcast.net/~davegf/ I didn't have a single problem in practice with anyone until I made up about three or four seconds on John at one point. He then was all over the track in front of me (not sure why, makes me wonder though) for a few laps in replay 1, and then when I went to go past him, he gave me no room through T3/4 and on exit (despite he himself asking if we should cancel the race just a little while earlier due to latency). He ended up hitting me and wiping out. He makes a sarcastic remark afterwards. Sorry John, I still rarely ever cause a yellow, so you can stuff your little comment. Talking like that during a RASCAR event is not within the "rules" I think also. John apparently won't even concede a position during practice when he's slower or beaten through a turn. Everyone else cooperated nicely under similiar circumstances. Not John. He stays in the black right with me and even though there's a whole lot of track to his right (look at heli view), he ignores it. In replay 2, after pitting, he comes out ahead of me again (happy day) and brakes hard right in front of me, screeching his tires, dropping down to 94 mph at a point entering T1 (gray line after light) when most cars are usually doing 110 to 115 (check #3 and others in replay). We collide, and he then threatens to kick me off the server. ????? No problems in practice with any other drivers except with John. Nice and clean. Clean race. 1 incident point for me, which Grubbat immediately took the blame for when he got loose and some cars rear ended each other. Threatening to kick someone off the server has never happened before, and (surprise) it just happened to occur to me, and right after the talk the past few days. What a coincidence. Yes, I'm sure things will be just fine with the new rules/black flags/punishments. David G Fisher
To start off. I don't know you personally David. So my judgement of you is made on your posts here in ras. You know Dave. I was going to ignore all your comments etc. But you've got me totally pissed off. I had enough of your smartass type when I worked in retail. But you're worse than the them. My customers had an excuse, they were drunk or stoned or both. you're a troll. All you want to do is start another bitch fight with John. You couldn't let todays race be, could you. For fuck sake man. Grow up. If you don't like John, don't talk to him. don't race him. just stay right the hell away from him. I've only just started racing in rascar. If this keeps up, i'll probably leave. not because of John, but you. Which is probably what you're after. Your agenda at the moment, or so it seems is to piss John off, and cause the demise of rascar. Christ man, you two had a coming together on the track. woopee f*****g chook. is it going to scar you for life. Since you were racing on a PRIVATELY owned server, you were there at the owners leisure. He could've booted anyone and not had to give an excuse. It was HIS server. Its just a game. you know, you went to the shop and paid for it. Its designed to give enjoyment. It gives me enjoyment, because I know nothing in it is real. Once I turn it off, its all over. Who gives a shit where we finish in the races. So what if we crash. Is it the end of the world. Is someone going to drop a nuke because of it. Maybe you need, how do the Americans say it.....therapy. If a game and one person can cause you to be so childish in your attitude and actions, you have major problems. Get your hand off your dick and get grip on life. Why did you have to bring this up here and not in the Rascar forum? Simple. to start a public bitch fight. Grow up. Its just a game. I very rarely react like this to someones comments. For all I know, you could be one of the nicest people on Earth. I tried to stay out of this. But like I said at the start, its really pissing me off. If I didn't like Johns attitude or the way he drives, or anyone else that I'm racing near(at the back of the field) in rascar, I wouldn't race. Why put myself in a position to get worked up and angry for. Its the way I was brought up. If you see a problem, avoid it, don't go full steam ahead into it and make the problem worse. Sit back and have a good think about what you're doing, man. Its not healthy. ok. got that off my chest. I'll just put my flack jacket on and fire proof overalls on. Fire away.... Lol. So basically you think it's ok for a guy who thinks he's got control of RASCAR to cause two incidents in practice with me, make rude comments against me in front of all the other drivers while blaming me for them, and then threaten to throw me off the server even though they weren't my fault? If this John person wants to be (insert word of choice here) he has the right to, it's his server and he can kick anyone out without a reason. Nobody's saying it's right, but if he does it, it's not against any rules. - If this is giving you such a hard time perhaps you really should join another series. Why? If incidents like this can occur, then regardless of what it might look like to outsiders you obviously deserve better. - If you do stay within the series, just stay away from that guy on track. Annoying? Yes. Life-threatening? No. Just an outside two cents, J.R.

Here's a quote out of the book's abstract. "The narcissist is an actor enacting a monodrama, yet forced to remain behind the scenes. The scenes take centre stage, instead. The Narcissist does not cater at all to his own needs. Contrary to his reputation, the Narcissist does not "love" himself in any true sense of this loaded word. He feeds off other people, who hurl back at him an image that he projects to them. This is their sole function in his world: to reflect, to admire, to applaud, to detest - in a word, to assure him that he exists. Otherwise, they have no right to tax his time, energy, or emotions - so he feels. The Narcissist's ego is weak and lacks clear borders. Many of the ego functions are projected. The Superego is sadistic and punishing. The Id is unrestrained. Primary objects in the Narcissist's childhood were badly idealised and internalised. His object relations are distraught and destroyed." Then again, it may have nothing to do with the situation whatsoever. :) Bruce.

I've already spent my time with in therapy. I used to take myself and life too seriously. That was until I had a razor sharp machete on the back of my neck for 4 minutes during a hold-up. Yes, I seriously thought I would die. It changed my life dramatically. What was it that I learned from that experience. I was 34 yrs old, and life is too short to worry myself about petty unimportant things. Like I said before, its just a game. chill out. To answer your questions. First, it was Johns server. He can do as he likes. Put it this way. If you come into my home, you act and behave as I would like. If you don't, I ask you to leave or escort you to the door. Johns server is the same. I don't have to agree with him, just respect it was his server. The same goes when we're on Eldreds server. Second. John doesn't think he is running Rascar. He and Eldred are!! I've handled this. See the obviously targetted thread. I can't require anyone to not respond to Dave's subsequent replies (and I'm sure it will be tempting to do so), but in the interst of maintaining a little order here, I would appreciate it if you guys didn't.

This is a racing incident as far as I can tell, and believe me, I have some experience - a couple of hundred races watched and penalized at the Finnish league (www.ruutulippu.net) Replay #2: jsimmons locks the brakes in T1, theres nothing daveGF could have done. In our series jsimmons would have been penalized if this was a racing situation - but in practise sessions these can happen freely... I assume that is to get the help of the people in R.A.S. that have issues with John. I have yet to see you propose a rule set. I have yet to see you do anything other than bitch and moan. I don't have any issues with your driving. Hell you haven't even been involved in any of the incidents that brought all this about. None of these rules would even affect you with the way you drive and handle yourself in the league. I understand your objections, I even objected to the same things. But..... I can give these rules a chance to see how they work, I am willing to have a stricter racing environment if it means I don't spend half the race behind the pace car. Can you just relax and give it a chance????? If you want to attack me personally over this then you are the prick here, not John. At least he had the decency to have a rational debate with me over the issues without resorting to personal attacks Why don't you and Dave just go off and have a nice little butt fuck session together? Sean (dude, yer almost as intense as I am). I think it's best if we just don't reply to posts by non RASCAR members that are just made to stir things up even more. They're just pinging on the RASCAR guys because they know it's likely to start a long thread that they can denounce as making the newsgroup too RASCAR-oriented (and the cycle will continue).

The problem is that he made a sarcastic comment immediately after the incident. He said "I've been Fisherized". I rarely cause yellows in RASCAR, and I don't appreciate or warrant that kind of garbage talk in front of 18 other drivers during a practice session before a race. The BIG issue though is that immediately after he caused this incident, he said to me, "I can throw you off this server". That is shit behavior. It raised comments from other drivers. It pissed me off. I wanted to tell him to go f**k himself, but I kept my mouth shut so as not to ruin the race for the other guys before it even started. He acted like an a**hole, threw his supposed power around, threw blame at me for his bad driving, made shitty comments that were unprovoked, and tried to embarrass me in front of the other RASCAR drivers. I really don't have any idea why you guys are even discussing this. Sure I reminded Dave that I could easily just eject him from the race, but did it happen? No. Was I within my rights to do so if I wished? You bet - I owned the hardware and the software running on it, as well as being paid up on my cable bill which nobody connected to the server was helping me pay. Did I? No. Why? Because it was a league race and until Eldred said so, Dave was still a member (despite the fact that I had submitted a formal request to Eldred to remove Dave from the league, and as far as I was concerned, he was no longer an issue). My server still uses the RASCAR invite list (and will continue using it) as it stood on Saturday at Bristol, and Dave and Mitch are even still on the list. Whenever they see my server up, the folks still on my copy of the invite list are welcomed to race as long as they behave.

Ok, here's what I think it's more like, and please, its only meant as a bit of fun: :) You can't do that! Yes I can. Who says you can? I do. It's my ball. No it isn't. Yes it is. Who says it is? I do. Since when? Since always. But I've been here from the start. I don't remember you bringing the ball. Well you weren't paying attention then. They know it's my ball. Oh, that sucks. I thought it belonged to everyone. Nope its mine, and while I'm at it here's how we're going to play from now on. You can't do that! I can, it's my ball. When did you buy it? I didn't. It was given to me. What? By your mum. No dummy, by this lot here. But I've been here all along, I don't remember them giving it to you. Well they did, so let's get back to these new rules. They're not just for me you know. Can't I have a say? Look, its my ball. I make the rules. Thats the rule. Everyone knows that. Well I don't like it. Well, thanks for your input. Now I've got to get on with getting things sorted. You're just making things more difficult. Everyone here wants to carry on playing and you're just spoiling it for everyone. But I'm trying to make it better for everyone, not spoil it. What, by coming on here and whining about who's ball it is? Give me a break. A voice from the crowd: Right, everyone out of my garden. I've had enough of this! But where are we going to play? J's garden's quite big. Ok, everyone over to J's!! And someone get that ball off of S!! Who's going in goal? Who cares. John, apologies if I'm assessing this incorrectly because I wasn't there, but IMHO simply threatening Dave did the same damage as if you'd actually kicked him, because it looked as if you used your admin power to solve a personal conflict you ran into as a _driver_ (where you should be a peer of the others). I was running a server as a favor to Eldred. It was MY server. I could have just shut it off, but I didn't. I could have ejected Dave (and rightfully so), but I didn't. I just reminded him that the possibility was there. When I did, he calmed down. It had the desired effect. Whether you people think I was right or wrong in reminding him that I could eject him is completely immaterial.
Yes, he made a rude comment to me after the first incident (I hadn't said a word yet) so as to make everyone think I caused it, and then after the second incident he immediately threatened to kick me off the server, again attempting to make everyone think I had caused that incident as well, and on purpose. I said NOTHING to provoke him. I said nothing rude AT ALL after either incident even though I was extremely angry at what he was doing. I did not want to ruin the race for others before it started, and I have more respect for the other participants than John does apparently. The replays here http://home.comcast.net/~davegf/ show what happened. They show him weaving all over the track the previous couple of laps, and squeezing/racing me tight through T3/4in *practice* (despite the fact I was clearly faster--caught up 3-4 seconds on him in previous laps) before incident 1. They show him lock up in front of me before incident 2. At a point entering T1 (gray line after light) where most cars are supposed to be at 110-115 mph, John locks up and suddenly drops to 94 mph right in front of me. Immediately I read, "I can kick you off this server". In this thread, Mika Takala reviewed the incidents and in neither one does he blame me, or say that it looks like I did anything intentional. I hope you'll read that review. I also hope you and others will look at those replays and see for yourself how he's trying to mislead. John is once again this morning in his replies to you trying to convince those here at r.a.s. that I caused those incidents on purpose, that he "rightfully" could have ejected me, and that his threats "had the desired effect" which "calmed" me down. He's delusional. I kept quiet after his threat because the only thing I really wanted to say to him was that he could go f**k himself, but I kept quiet out of respect for the others. I knew I did nothing wrong. I kept control and refused to drag myself down to his level during that race and possibly ruin it for others. What he's saying is all a bunch of garbage meant to ruin my reputation, and a perfect example as to why he should not be a dictator in control of RASCAR. John, sometimes it's simply a good idea to not use the right although you have it. To keep it in the here-so-popular ballgame analogy - where I grew up, among the kids when we played football or something, if the guy who owned the ball took it away simply because he didn't like a referee's decision, this wasn't considered good manners, although he of course had the right to do it. Worse even if the referree owned the ball, and took it away because we didn't like his decisions <g> Achim "John Simmons" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... ...

John: You sound like you are way out of bounds here. I was under the impression that RASCAR was a club. In a club the members have a say of what happens and what the rules are. Im all for strict racing, but it appears as thought RASCAR has gone from a fun racing club to a HITLER HELL HOLE! I dont know how you went from carset boy to HITLER! Man you need to get a grip! I dont see you really have the rights to do anything. It seems to me that there might of been some RASCAR rules, but you have appended your own set of rules and authority that never was approved by the members or club. Should be not RIP RASCAR, but more properly RIP SIMMONS! DW
"Don Wilshe" wrote... > > <snip> > > John: > > You sound like you are way out of bounds here.<snip> Don, this aspect has been dealt with in 3 threads already, I would be gratefull if you could refrain from continuing it in a 4th... RASCAR is and was not a club. It was and will remain a small group of people volunteering their time so registered RAS members can race on a regular basis in a controlled environment. The "Club" racing ceased to be "fun" and people were leaving because of it. It was decided to make changes in order to address that. This the only thing the membership as a whole wasn't consulted on. A draft rules/penalty system was posted, amended and, eventually, dropped. In its place came the addition of penalties to the original ruleset and, because there was a tendency among some to drag discussions about on-track incidents on past their sell-by date a rule was added to limit disussion to 9pm central on Tuesday following the race on John's initiative. Again discussion and amending followed (though not of the discussion cap, which I still think is sensible, from an admin point of view). Hardly a Hitler Hell Hole, but, like I said before, personal antagonism (IMO) caused a highly exaggerated plot to spill over into RAS with the known results. Would you mind letting us get on with picking up the pieces now? -Thanks. Jan. =---

Fine, you don't like John either. Big whoop. If it matters, and I certainly doubt it does, some think your flaming is laughable at best, considering John was still running the show until Eldred pulled his server. Apparently, RASCAR now means 'anyone who yelps I got a server to race on for Saturdays so I'm running it the way I want it run'. If one cannot at least understand that, then labeling John a hitler is pretty much lame to me. More to the point, if you were a real man about it why did you wait until it was obvious John and Eldred were out before leveling your sniper? A lot of people here may find it easy to jump on a bandwagon but at least most of them voiced their opinions when it mattered. -- Tim White "Don Wilshe" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:ZgP2b.2811$[email hidden]... > > > I was running a server as a favor to Eldred. So much has been said about this that I actually went and re-installed NR-2003 to take a look at these replays.

First up I would say it's really difficult looking at a local replay - you would need to also see John's to balance based upon what he was seeing. First incident I would say is just a racing incident. John looked a little unsettled into the turns, which I can empathise with at Bristol. You guys almost tagged in the exact same way on the previous lap, and sure enough it actually happened a lap later. From your replay John could see you move low and see you on his left exiting T2, but you moved a bit up and he moved a bit down. Given the recent history I'd say both could (should?) have been more wary, but then equally given the recent history probably better to let a faster driver pass in practice, especially if car is a little unpredictable. > In replay 2, after pitting, he comes out ahead of me again (happy day) and > brakes hard right in front of me, screeching his tires, dropping down to 94 > mph at a point entering T1 (gray line after light) when most cars are > usually doing 110 to 115 (check #3 and others in replay). We collide, and he > then threatens to kick me off the server. In fairness if you look at replay one John does the same thing to almost the same speed. His exit from T4 was a bit slow (due to just out of the pits), and entry speed into T1 where you got together was also well down. Therefore if braking at same point, turn-in speed will also be well down - and all were, by about 10mph. Also in replay 1 John's car "looks" to stand on it's nose as though he has locked up, although he enters the corner normally. Probably the lockup is just latency or replay issues. You'd need to see John's replay (braking points, levels) to know. That said, the issue is clearly not about the incident(s), but about what has gone before and what happened afterward. You guys seriously need to fix this, and get on with racing together, or agree to disagree and let it go. Everyone is blaming each other, and we all know how long that can go on on Usenet, but when it brings in and disrupts others it's getting too much - from both parties. Hope you guys can sort it out, it would be a shame to see the series rent asunder by this. John PS - Before anyone troubles to tell me - I know, I know, I'm not RASCAR, shag all to do with this, mind my own, etc etc. If the series rules compel people to wash their dirty laundry in public, I'm entitled to comment in public, especially if any way to help (which is very much the

Don, Why I'm bothering with you I'm not sure.... But please tell me if you recall our phone conversation, and what I was trying to explain THEN to you about why Fastlap was so hackable, running a dos batch file to reset the system clock simply because you chose forget people WERE running windows. They could change everything and you'd never know it if they reset the clock back before the batch exited back to fastlap? Do you remember what you said to that??? Was it something like, "Well the guy who wrote the program isn't really willing to go to all that trouble, plus N2 is out bla bla bla, anyway what are you running at Daytona?" If I were gonna cheat 2000+ members of IVGA I'd sure remember what I said. You should be ashamed of yourself. I did NOT doctor the fastlap file you moron and never needed a hexedit. Someone like you might ... You keep making up this shit adding stink, hoping it will stick but you need to look at how your' throwing it. As I told you back when it mattered, I wrote a batch file that simply reset the windows system clock and set it back before Fastlap wrote it's files. Never hacked a file you wrote. Prove I did. Prove I ever said that. All that DOS batch file did was allow me to keep restarting Qual until I got a lap I liked with the same setup. That was it. And YOU KNEW IT CAUSE I TOLD YOU lol. I actually liked the Fastlap concept and tried to help you improve it and you feel the need to label me a cheater. That's a real laugh. For an entirely different reason I uploaded the dega run to the AOL group and several people actually went faster with it than I did. It wasn't rocket science. Now, writing an executable that copies everyone' setups who uses it not only took forward thought, but since you didn't write it, it took convincing someone else to help you cheat. So Don, who exactly did you conspire with to get someone to write cheat code for you??? What you need to do is shut up and act like you can't read r.a.s anymore before someone else gets dragged down by your lies and deceit. -- Tim White "Don Wilshe" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:4LQ2b.3244$[email hidden]... > > "Tim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:2oQ2b.27235$[email hidden]... > > I never cheated in Fastlap. Yup, that's what you get for being civil and trying to stay above the fray. Now the very guy you were supporting is making you look bad right along with himself. I'm just a bystander but was thinking of joining RASCAR or whatever else came along. He was also weaving on the straights in during the previous laps. He was up and down in the turns. Go to the heli view and watch the two of us. One driver is all over the track, and one driver is smooth and clean and simply trying to make a clean pass past a slower driver who he had easily caught up to in previous laps.

Yes, it was practice and I assumed being the veteran he is that he knew I had caught him up quickly (using F2 and his mirror), and that he would do what other drivers do in practice and let a faster driver by cleanly. Practice is for practice, and not racing. Drivers cooperate in practice. They dren't racing each other. Using the heli view, he is in the black with me all theway through the turn and has me pinned down exiting the turn. It was just racing incident as long as he wasn't racing me to try and show me who's boss. His rude comment IMMEDIATELY after the collision ("I've been Fisherized") was totally uncalled for. > > In replay 2, after pitting, he comes out ahead of me again (happy day)and > > brakes hard right in front of me, screeching his tires, dropping down to94 > > mph at a point entering T1 (gray line after light) when most cars are > > usually doing 110 to 115 (check #3 and others in replay). His tires screech (key), his nose dips, and his speed drops quickly to 94mph at that gray line after the light. He should be at 110-to 115mph at that exact point (check #3, andother drivers from other repalys if you have thechance). At no point on that track, unless a driver makes a mistake, should they drop anywhere near 94mph. Lowest speed midway through the turns on worn tires is usually about 100mph. If he was on cold tires, why didn't he just do what every other driver with basic knowledge would do under similiar circumstances and go high into the turn, allowing the driver behind him to pass low and continue on the ideal line? Simple, basic stuff. I think he was purposely trying to keep me behind me. Can't prove it, and I never accused him of that in practice, despite the crap he threw at me in front of the group. Mika's review elsewhere stated there was nothing I could of done to avoid rear ending John, and he's right. > You'd need to see John's replay (braking points, levels) to know. > > That said, the issue is clearly not about the incident(s), but about > what has gone before and what happened afterward. That's right, it's about his rude comment after incident 1, and his threat to ban me after incident 2. It's about his efforts to blame me for those incidents in front of the group, and then control me and make me look small in front of the group by threatening to ban me. I said and did nothing to warrant any of that nonsense. > John > > PS - Before anyone troubles to tell me - I know, I know, I'm not RASCAR, > shag all to do with this, mind my own, etc etc. If the series rules > compel people to wash their dirty laundry in public, I'm entitled to > comment in public, especially if any way to help (which is very much the People can say whatever they want. If some start commenting on everything, in our wildest dreams can we imagine others will exercise restraint and not hit back? Yep, and the same thing happened the previous lap. Judging by your caution _into_ the turns I'd say your were hell bent on not having an incident (or maybe I'm a dive-bombing open-wheeler!), and the issue on the exit was just one of those things. > His tires screech (key), his nose dips, and his speed drops quickly to 94mph > at that gray line after the light. At no point on that track, unless a driver makes a mistake, > should they drop anywhere near 94mph Again in fairness if you look at the other replays on many occasions John's speed is <100mph, even 9xmph around the apexes (apices?). It looks like he was still developing his setup, and the stability or max speed was not there. Given the situation (gap, closing speed) I agree there was no way to avoid rear-ending, but unless John deliberately brake-tested you, which your replay strongly suggests he didn't, then again just one of those things. In general terms the following driver is almost invariably considered at fault in a rear-ending. However, those replays are the spark, not the fire. The point is as you say, the comments and ramifications afterward. I'm also not the most backward at coming forward, and pretty much reckon I'd have acted in the same way. Maybe we should ask some of the old SPRTSIMS commishs to advise for a while. There were issues, but I don't remember them being driven so far out of hand. I didn't say it was not cheating. YOU SAID IT WASN'T Cheating. You can't remember that cause you were too busy begging for setups. You said it when we talked on the phone, right in the middle of Fastlap. Right in the middle of me telling you what I was doing to help you improve Fastlap. Ever since then you keep saying I HACKED Fastlap, and I didn't, and you know it. And for the record, those times were legit. No, I didn't spend all week restarting fastlap. I've said that from day one. I said it in 1996. And although I could duplicate those times online, others were still faster. After 7 years, your still not man enough to explain to everyone here why you took everyone's setups in the first place. You certainly did not tell ME that when I was letting you know how to DOS batch file Fastlap. What really is laughable, is that you think restarting Fastlap to get my best lap somehow equates to you downloading 1000's of setups for every single track in Nascar. You could not admit it at all until someone confronted you with it, thus screeching Fastlap to a halt and forever reminding people of your true nature. Now, 7 years later, you can't get into any leagues, and I can, gee wiz. And you wonder why. I'll tell you why. Because you have no shame. You only feel good about yourself when you make anyone else look bad. Let someone call you on your mistakes, and you either make a joke of it, or throw so much bs out there, most just choose to ignore it altogether while donny the snake slides silently back into the night ... To my recollection, you have Never once admitted even an error in judgment when it came to copying setups using Fastlap. Never. In fact, what you DID do was post some pathetic poll on IVGA claiming no one supported Papy in suggesting you ban yourself. For all the world knows, the creation of Fastlap was only to steal in the first place. My god, the more you spew the more you make a fool of yourself and a mockery of the beginnings of sim racing. -- Tim White "Don Wilshe" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:6LS2b.3870$[email hidden]... > > So resetting the clock to give yourself an illegal time isnt cheating.

We had to do two restarts. One was because I forgot to turn the replay saving on, and I forget what the other reason was. After the 2nd restart of the server, Eldred was telling me that someone couldn't get in, and I had to tell him that I forgot the race password and that the guy should have been on the practice server at least once to verify that he could indeed connect. After that, the chat was flying pretty heavy, and I was trying to watch that and drive, hence the weaving I was doing. I only had a couple hours notice to run the server, so things got off to a rocky un-tested start, and I was trying to do too many things at once. LOL, good one Ed, Actually, you have me there. :) Originally I Was getting it twice, in case I needed it, just never removed the first one. Didn't know I wouldn't need it until after I sent in the first Fastlap-created file to IVGA and no one caught it. I STAND CORRECTED :) Fastlap used the system clock as a timer, giving you just enough time to start N1, go to qual, get out, and exit Fastlap. You could restart Fastlap and retry as many times as you wanted; every track, any time. I was the classic dega head then; the only track I ran in N1. I could not lay down two consitent laps to save my life. I was fast, but I'd always get too nervous lol. Restarting Fastlap was such a royal pain in the ass it got to the point, for me anyway, that I was dealing with inferior programming. A batch file just let me save a lot of time, and work on a rhythm. Obviously unfair, but still running legit setups. Although I was the guy who found driving backwards and self spinning not only shortened the overall time for a dega q run, it heated up the rears vastly more than any other way people were backing up. The over driving the car on the first 2 laps, heating up the tires, driving thru the infield, all that, those were found by someone else. There was very little you could do to a setup at dega in N1 with the setup itself, other than the restrictor plate hack, which I never saw. So I wrote a batch that grabbed the clock, saving it, then resetting to that time plus a random elapsed time Fastlap would expect after leaving N1 and before Fastlap wrote the files. IVGA told us what the time limits were for the tracks so I didn't have to guess on that. I always wondered why they would tell us that. Before I ever wrote that batch file, I severely overthought what Fastlap was capable of in terms of security. Maybe I'm the only one who batched Fastlap that way, maybe not. Turned out it was about the most simple way of thinking for such a large group of competitors. Every one who ran Hawaii had to at least know about Fastlap. And knowing what we all know now about computers, thinking no one else hacked Fastlap, could be naive at best. I wanted Don to know that, to let him know that at the least, Fastlap could be improved, and told him why ... Anyway, had I know what else Don was writing to that file, I probably would've temp renamed all my setups to the default beginners setups lol :) -- Tim White "Ed Solheim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3f4bfde7$[email hidden]... > "Tim" SAID: > > > RESET TIME CLOCK > > RUN FASTLAP > > RESET TIME CLOCK > > [Arrr-aaagghhh-uuuu-eeemmm muuuust reeessissttt strrooong poweerrrr -- > toouuhh sttrong - caaannt cope - musst gggiiive in tooo > prrrreessssuureeee - and so on - and so on...] > > Okey... somebody is bound to ask - so it might as well be me; > > Why did you reset the clock --- twice? >

Well, buffoon's comments refer to RASCAR and his performance in the races he ran. I think it's "on topic". The only RASCAR member I've taken pot shots at today is Dave, and quite frankly, I think I'm due.

So you are admitting that you were driving poorly (whatever your lame excuse is--even if it's true, you should of just gotten out of the way then), yet you went ahead anyway after that first incident and blamed me in front of the group to try and make me look bad . You then used that blame bogus blame of me of the first incident to threaten to kick me out after the second incident which nobdy here has yet said was my fault. By admitting you were weaving, you are also admitting that all that crap you said to Joachim about me "causing a problem" with my driving in that practice session was a lie, and that I didn't deserve your sh**ty remarks or your threat. Understand all that, and it surely explains or justifies the weaving (which I didn't comment as I saw no issue with it). The late notice, the chat etc are all good reasons, but they're not reasons to not let a faster car by in practice, nor for squeezing so close when he is passing. Same goes for Dave, he should've given more room too. However, had Dave done what you did, and been reading chat while driving, weaving, wisecracking on you after an incident - you would justifiably be able to censure him. However I can't reconcile that you censure him when you did all that to him. >Wake me when Dave comes up with something with some factual basis, >instead of his typical whiney bullshit. I don't think Dave's driving was at fault as much as him jackin' his jaws about how he thinks I brake-checked him. > However, had Dave done what you did, and been reading chat while > driving, weaving, wisecracking on you after an incident - you would > justifiably be able to censure him. It reminds me of something I've done. The last time I went to Daytona USA at the Daytona Speedway, it was just past the year 2000 in January. They still had the hybrid N1/N2 version of their sim running the Daytona track. Very crude, but hey back then we would drool just thinking about racing "Orange County speedway" (lovely Dega with .mip's changed to Daytona). I easily beat all those already-established laptimes of the day doing a dozen qualifying runs, but on the last shot I tried the good-old drive-through-the-pits trick without anybody noticing. That qual run was amazingly fast compared to my other (already fast) qual runs, and one of the employee said to me they had never seen as high speed as that on the qual run billboard. I never told him I cheated ;-D -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- http://ymenard.cjb.net/ -- This announcement is brought to you by the Shimago-Dominguez Corporation - helping America into the New World...

Lie. Post the chat log. After incident 1, The first chat message posted by either of us was you saying, "I've been Fisherized". You were blaming me for th eincident even thoughyou now admit you were weaving. Since I'm one of the drivers in RASCAR who's always caused the least amount of yellows, I don't appreciate that comment. I said NOTHING derogatory towards you after your accusatory comment at me. I didn't blame you for anything. I didn't say a negative workd about you or your driving. After incident 2, the first chat message was by me which was, "that was not intentional". You said, "I can kick you off the server". Others then chimed in. The ONLY hting I said after that was that you were at 94 mph entering T1. Post the damn chat log you punk liar. David G Fisher

By your own admission the "jaw jackin'" was started by yourself right after the incident. I believe Dave kept quiet. If you follow the premise that we are talking about this incident, and that Dave did not deliberately hit you, and that you know you didn't deliberately hit him - then the whole sorry affair was kicked off by your chat comments over a racing incident. If that is not the case then you are asserting ; - He deliberately hit you (proof?) - You deliberately hit him (proof?) - You didn't think there was deliberate contact, yet used the chat comments during practice to suggest there was. Incidents on track happen all the time - the snap judgement and reaction to them is the issue. That is what you were trying to stamp out in RASCAR, yet ironically it seems to be your own snap judgement and reaction that has ripped RASCAR as was to pieces. I don't see how Dave can be blamed for this incident as happened on track (or at least as has been explained here and by replay).

This is the first time I have heard such a thing - Dave and others stated that you immediately made a "Fisherised" comment and threatened to kick him. Clearly you were angry, so the mere fact Dave wasn't kicked suggests he didn't respond. > Who is Occam? William of Ockam. A man of whom Gillette would be envious. I was being a smart-ass - he was being vindictive and accusatory by saying I intentionally brake-checked him. At that point, I went from being mildy amused and annoyed at being punted, to full-on pissed off. Dave has a history of making accusations like that (ask Tim about that), and I wasn't in the mood to put up with it. He was just waiting for something like that to happen, but you'll be long-dead from natural causes before you hear him admit it. Beyond this post, I won't be making any further attempts to to defend my actions on *MY* server. No matter what I do or how many ways it's explained, some of you won't agree with what I did, and Dave will continue to press the issue in order to have the last word.

"John Simmons" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I was being a smart-ass - he was being vindictive and accusatory by > saying I intentionally brake-checked him. It doesn't sound like he said that _at_the_time_, only later. Then you must accept a portion of the blame, even if it was only from being a smart-ass? Hell, the sentiment or your reaction is understandable, I can't say I wouldn't do the same, but had Dave been involved in a racing incident and made a remark, in jest or otherwise, suggesting it was your fault, you've got to admid you'd have been mad. I know I would have been. > He was just waiting for something like that to happen, but you'll be > long-dead from natural causes before you hear him admit it. I can't speak for the whole history, but in this case I genuinely don't think so. If you watch Dave's replays there's two or three times I thought "pussy" (sorry Dave!) because he pulled out of a potential passing opportunity to avoid causing an incident. (That statement probably speaks volumes about why I drive open-wheelers, and would probably cause the biggest international incident in history were my dive-bombing butt ever to end up on a RASCAR grid :-) I have no particular axe to grind, and Dave and I have crossed keyboards ourselves in the past, but I've got to say that in this case it clearly looks like he was driving in a very cautious and controlled manner to avoid any incident. With the recent history I can understand why he would do that. > Beyond this post, I won't be making any further attempts to to defend > my actions on *MY* server. In this instance I would say it was the RASCAR server and you were the RASCAR "commendatore". If you say it was you and *YOUR* server then you cannot invoke RASCAR rules to punish Dave for your infraction of the RASCAR rules. > No matter what I do or how many ways it's > explained, some of you won't agree with what I did, and Dave will > continue to press the issue in order to have the last word.
