Preview screenshots of The Pits Touring Car Championship mod
Jan Kohl posted preview screenshots of The Pits' touring car mod for NR2003. Readers were impressed and puzzled by five different car bodies in a sim limited to four. Goy Larsen joked about modelling the transporter in the style of West Racing.

Wow they are beautiful. But am I mistaken or are
there 5 different car makes in those images?

I just read the thread accompaning the photos, and the 'guesses' indicate
either the pits have figured out how to exceed the 4 bodystyle limit or the
screenies have been 'photoshopped.'
If you have 5 bodies, and some creative paint-skinning, you could
probably see the possibility of the appearance of many more cars.
Now the real question, is that a classic GTS-R Viper or the newer limited
edition competition coupe?

competition coupe, because the air inlets in front look too wide for the old
Viper. Also the old Viper had more rounded body sides. Just my opinion,
can't really tell for sure.

The US Pits and photoshopping? Nope, I don't think so :)

I'm telling you 'wow these pics are stunners!'
My utmost respect goes to the car model designer and the painter!

It appears to be intended
to be a Competition Coupe, based on the bodyside and front end. The
bodyside vent in particular would be totally wrong on the old Viper, so it
must be a CC. But the greenhouse of the model is much too big and the hood
and fender area is wrong for the CC. Here are some links with pix:

Notice the much lower roof, lower and flatter hood, and huge rear end. In
fact, compare these two directly:

Don't get me wrong, I commend the artist on his efforts, but I think it
needs a bit of fine tuning. The real Competition Coupe is an extremely
powerful and dangerous looking car up close, very much wedge shaped and
reminiscent of a fighter plane. The model doesn't seem to capture that, its
proportions and curves are a bit too much like the old Viper, rounded and
retro-looking.

I'll take this model with pleasure over a perfectly realistic one which
will be released in two years because it took so long to get the very
last detail 100% right ;)

the chassis and a grease gun will be provided

And now we all know who's hiding behind the name of Cynical Saint <g>
Did you model the cigarette-butts in the ashtray?

Great Shots...loved the slogan...:)

And now for something completetly different!
I dig the angle I'm getting on this. It's a "touring car championship" as
opposed to "TransAm" or "TOCA" blahblah. Great looking cars, a fun physics
base, and tracks coming out. Neat-o, we need it these days! Ta guys, &
keep it up!
Not far away from a Special Saloon Championship this! Any possibility of
using several sounds in there too?
