Amazing job. Whoever made it, amazing job.
I came from TEN, where I was on for over a year. I cancelled my account
last month, and for the first time I tried out GSB tonight. I'm not kidding
when I say that tonight's experience was better then any experience I had in
over a year on TEN.
First, the people on there are the friendliest mo-fo's you could ask to
race against. Very, very nice folks. No whiney 15-year-olds, like on TEN.
No idiots spamming the chat rooms. Just friendly friggin people.
Secondly, the interface on GSB is very easy to use. Kudos to the
programmers.
Third, little-to-NO lag during the race. There was 10 of us I
believe......I have cable, so I pinged like 60-70 to the server. And there
was very little lag. To be honest, it was equal to IF NOT BETTER then TEN.
I am not joking. I cannot believe I didn't try this out sooner, because I
would have been off of TEN in a flash.
Praise for GPL SpyBoy after leaving TEN
A former TEN subscriber praised GPL SpyBoy (GSB) for its friendly, free online racing compared with TEN. The thread turned into banter between oval and road racers over which requires more skill, and a dispute over whether GPL's F2 and F3 trainer cars have reduced physics or simply less power; league members said Papyrus staff had confirmed only power differs.
Automated summary.
I'm glad there are more and more TEN users beginning to figure out that they
are being taken by TEN. ;-)
I was going to send a private email to you but there is no address to send
it to. We on GSB are not "Mo-Fo's", nor are we "friggin people". Just my
opinion, but, We on GSB are "the friendliest" because we don't use this
language.
Welcome to the "TEN used to be's" club. <g>

Dont listen to this Barlow guy. He just quit TEN because he couldnt compete at any
track other than Watkins Glen ;)

You mean you dont like 5% Dega races with 23 14 year olds who have 0 and 1
skill at all other tracks, a 15 at Dega, and overall LPI of 6.5?? ;)

Well, compete on Ovals is not just boring, but requires none or close to
none skill, some practice and a good setup...compete at Glen on NROS, and
wil races tells me that the guy has some skill, right ? :-)
Tilus
Careful now! <g>
Hey Scot,
You are actually half right I wasn't competitive "at all" even at the Glen. ;-)
NASCAR is fun but just not my cup of tea. GPL is the same way. However, GPL "F3" does
come close. I'm waiting on the SCCA SS b or c. I'd be most happy with the
H-Production but I don't think that will ever see the light of day.
Now that I'm very competitive in F3, I wonder what the chances of..
http://www.gtsM-racing.com are? <g>

In the eye of the racer, I find it to be a blast running fender to fender
and door to door for several laps at a time.
Completely false
Oval racing takes an entirely different type of skill. My personal
experience is in SCCA and although I have never driven competitively on
ovals, I have driven on them and its not easy.
The concentration, skill, feedback, and setup knowledge is extremely
different than road course racing.

LOL
Well the Glen was my home track in SCCA and your lap times still blow mine away <VBG> I
have trouble braking the 120 barrier at the Glen in NROS =) Of course, Ill just blame
it on NASCAR not running the Boot ;)
Ive run a couple of F3 races, The cars just seem too "castrated" for me <VBG> Maybe F2
would be better. Although I like the idea of F1, F2, and F3 for GPL tremendously...
The F3 seems just a bit too slow for me. Maybe I just need to run some more races with
it.
I want a Spec Racer and/or Sport 2000 racer simulation <VBG> Hell, lets just throw in
some Forumula Fords, F440 (or whatever they are called now), some V's and lets go racing
<G>
How about a CAN-Am Reunion sim. Now that would ROCK!!!
G.T.S. Racing is still primarily a NASCAR Racing team (except for me). My teammates will
be (hopefully) upgrading their PCs this summer/fall so they can start running GPL with me
more often online. Tim Lansberry (Knight82) is definitely the best N2 racer of the
team. Im really the only GPL racer, at least for now.
Maybe an associate membership level needs to be created for GTS Racing so that we can give
access to the GTS Garage to them as well ;) Besides, I just paid for the registration
for GTS-Racing.com ROFL
You would be better off with 99.99999999995% of the GPL racers out there than myself. <G>
Plus, I race the Gurney Eagle exclusively. Its tough enough to learn to drive and
develop setups for it, let alone all the other cars. Although i love the sound of the
Ferrari =)
See you online.

For the record:
I am a converted TEN to GPL-GSB mofo too.
We have a few folks out there (seems to be more lately) that have a
little of the TEN attitude. But, over all, the mofo's are a great
group of people.
Its getting better all the time.

Maybe, Motorsport Simulations is doing an online SCCA racing simulation.
Btw, Motorsport Simulations is part of the former crew which did
Warbirds...so they have somewhat of a good track record at online ***.
<snore> 1:20s? Man, that is like as slow as a SNAIL!!! :)
Only if you like running with reduced physics. :) If the F2/F3 cars
actually had the same physics as the F1 cars do (according to Eric Busch of
Papyrus...) then I'd give them a try, but since they dont its just not worth
the time.

Yeah, Scott might run you off the road. :)

The physics are the same, it's just the horsepower and grip that are reduced.
Try it and see for yourself.

Trips,
Thats precisely what I thought myself. However, I was corrected very
quickly by Eric Busch of Papyrus....:) I tend to believe that he's in the
know and so it is as he says. :)
Hehehe......I was in one league, an invitational league along with your

The only physics change I seem to notice is
the reduced power. so, What Physics change is there in the F1's that's not in
the F3's?

Wrongo, my friend...
Oval racing requires a different aspect of racing than road course, but
still requires skill. You need total understanding of setup tweaking, full
concentration to juggle with all what's happening around you. That includes
your pit strategy, the other's strategy, tyre wear, fuel conservation, etc..
I can do 126mph laps on the NROS at the Glen, and Im one of the fastest on
the NROS including ovals tracks. I think I know, Bill knows and Scott knows
also what we are talking about.

well, I could never do much but spin out in Nascar 2, and I may have been
the first person to finish a season w\ no complete races in the NASS series
:) however I can do much better with the touring cars at the glen... so I'd
say that it requires differant skills too.

The only difference in the F2/F3 cars over the F1 cars, is the power
level...
That came straight from the horses mouth, so to speak..
We have a couple of members of Papy's team in our league and that was
the response they gave when they were asked about the specific
differences in the F3/F2 and F1 cars..
So sorry to have to put a spanner in the works Chris, but the only
difference between the classes is the power, nothing more, and nothing
less.. :)
Cheers, see you in F3 somewhere...
