Oh, boy...I gotta go thru this again.
Let's start with the physics. In NasRev simulation<g> mode, go as fast as
possible down the backstretch at Talladega. If you want, move the weight all
the way back and raise the rear tire pressures to loosen the car up. When
you hit about 195 or so, crank the steering left and right as hard as
possible. You won't slide, spin, or have any bad experience at all. I've
tried everything possible, and the car will not break the back end loose
unless you hit something.
And how did you manage to sit thru 88 laps anywhere? Have you ever seen the
AI make it more than 3 laps without a wreck? I haven't, and I rand a good
25-30 races before tossing the CD in the dumpster. I'll list the reasons I
feel NasRev should be avoided like a Rottweiler with rabies:
1- Ridiculous system requirements for all the cartoony graphics.
2- Lousy sound.
3- The spotter is blind.
4- Terrible car control.
5- The worst AI in any driving title of any kind.
6- No control under caution.
7- The stupid way pitting is handled.
8- Rrevved's famous "slow-motion" game engine.
9- Ineffective car setup capability.
10- Absolutely zero customizability.
11- a useless in car view.
12- It's expensive.
There's more, but I think the point is made....Andretti Racing with fancy
graphics and a NASCAR license. That's all it is.

A defence of NASCAR Revolution draws criticism
One poster said a long race at Las Vegas in NASCAR Revolution was the most exciting NASCAR sim racing he had experienced. Others listed its physics flaws, caution-period bugs and poor reviews and called it far inferior to NASCAR Racing 2, while 'The Rodster' traded insults with regulars.
Automated summary.
Unlike that other guy's experience at C***te, I raced a 33% race (88
laps?) at Vegas on NASREV last night and after religiously driving papy's
NASCAR almost nightly since the first NASCAR I must say that my experience
at Vegas using NASREV was the most exciting NASCAR racing action a driving
sim has yet to deliver.
There was not one caution for the full 88 laps.I used the***pit view the
whole race and experienced no problems with "speed sensation". But the thing
that gets me is the AI drive so "NASCAR-Like" that it is scary. The AI ran
with me side-by-side for long runs and often got 3 wide going through the
front stretch. Now, I don't proclaim to be an expert on "simulated" car
physics, but I know a hellofalot about driving NASCAR sims through sheer
experience alone.
I know there are a lot of problems with NASREV, just as there are and always
have been many problems with NASPAPY. But I urge you nay-sayers to at least
go out and race 100 laps or so and give the thing a chance. There's no way
you can deny that the "racing experience" of NASREV isn't far ahead of or at
least on par with NASPAPY. And even if you have pledged your allegiance to
NASPAPY there is plenty of room for more NASCAR titles.
Also, could someone please explain to me why NASPAPY's car physics are
supposedly superior to NASREV. This I gotta hear.

have a clue about driving a car. I aint sayin' that Nascar 2 is perfect
because it isnt, in fact its far from it. The thing is that Nasrev has so many
problems that it makes it unbearable for me to play it. Hell, your probably
only 12 or 13 years old and have never even driven a real car. Just wait till
your old enough to drive. Youll see what were all talking about.

So, let me get this straight, rrevved.... you're saying it'd be a BAD
idea to buy this? Hmmm..... guess I'll wait and see if a patch can fix it
to get at least ONE star...
nahhhh.... I'll get EAW instead (till N3 comes around!).
It's a shame so many people are "holding back in their opinion" of
NasRev. I kinda thought we'd see more openness here, not so much
timidity...

Oh, haha
You dont by chance work for EA do you??. You are the only person in the USA
that didnt notice the lack of speed sensation. I have a 464mhz and 3dfx II
and I noticed it like crazy!

advice is to wait till next year when EA publishes RoadsterBot'2000
which will have 3D-rendered flames and real-time plonking.

"If the meaning of life was printed in a book, someone

I have raced it. For a lot more than 100 laps.
And the longer I race it, the more I hate Best Buy for not allowing
software returns.
NasRev is a horrible, horrible game.
NasRev can't hold a candle to Nascar 2. The graphics are prettier, but
I don't race for graphics. I race for realism and fun. NasRev is far
too annoying to be fun.
There _is_ plenty of room for competing Nascar race games. It's
unfortunate that NasRev is _not_ one of them.

I prefer to watch my Siamese Cat spin around trying to catch his tail.
At least he does it in real time!
He also corners better than the car in NasRev.
