Early NASCAR Racing 1999 impressions spark piracy accusations

A poster praised NASCAR Racing 1999 before release and was accused of running a pirated copy. The thread compared NR99's physics with GPL and speculated that NASCAR 3 would use GPL-style physics and outsell GPL, with one report that a later release had slipped to March 1999.

Been playing nascar99 for the past few hours. Its real good, first thing i tried was sears point with the trucks, drive around.. doesnt look too diffferent but i htought i forgot the track for a sec, but it is the short track :) the downhill esses are much better too, good improvement as is watkins glen... trucks rev to 10,000rpm! and seem to have more grunt out of corners, but sofar i have found the mid-corner speed down to the nascars. There is no ford/chev/pontiac tho, its all called chassis 1, 2, 3 the paintkit is missing all the lisenced decals, and all the cars have the same fronts (looks like a monte carlo for nascars and maybee the dodge for the trucks). Thats the only thing i have againsed it. Native 3dfx support is awesome, no flushed look, looks very nice :) The tracks are awesome too, look real nice.

Are there any new multiplayer options?

Buddy, this guy does not have N99. He just wants to try to look cool what an idiot. He said that he just started playing it today, but he posted a similar message saying he already had the game last week. Gary

Devon wrote WHAT ?? I never did such a thing... Check out the logs of the gpl.gamestats.com board and you will see I never done such a thing. Why is this easy hit on me ?? That's really a cheap shot Devon, I though you were better. I have no relations with any illegal pirating association or whatever else. Well... I've seen a pirated version of N99. It looked like a development beta or even alpha. Maybe it leaked somehow out of Papyrus labs? Duno. I'm not going to write a review based on a pirated copy, but one thing that hit me was the hugely inferior physics model when compared to GPL. Anyway, I am not a fan of NASCAR so I got rid of it quickly.
N99 can not be compared to GPL. N99 is still Nascar2 with minor modifications. N3/N2000 will be more similar in physics to GPL... >>Buddy, this guy does not have N99. He just wants to try to look cool what an

It ca be compared, but will never be able to compete.
While I prefer GPL, N3 will nonetheless (easily) outsell GPL 10-1. > It ca be compared, but will never be able to compete. -- Marc J. Nelson SimRacing Online - http://www.simracing.com/ * Switch confused.net with concentric.net to reply...Confused-yet? *

Yes, sure, but a full NASCAR field has a whole lot more AI cars than GPL, so hell knows what processor we're gonna need for it.
> Yes, sure, but a full NASCAR field has a whole lot more AI cars than GPL, so > hell knows what processor we're gonna need for it. If N3 is released around middle of next year, they'll HAVE to dumb down the AI or the physics of the AI cars. A Nascar field with 12 cars isn't really a lot of fun...which is what you would have to use with GPL's settings. l8er ronny -- Toys'R'Us '99: "So, would you like a hand gun with that action figure, kiddo?" |\ _,,,---,,_ I want to die like my Grandfather, ZZZzz /,`.-'`' -. ;-;;,_ in his sleep. |,4- ) )-,_. ,\ ( `'-' Not like the people in his car, '---''(_/--' `-'\_) screaming their heads off!

Where I come from, we have this thing called "subtlety," . . . oh never mind . . . >Forgot about Sears Point and Watkins Glen there Mr. Comedian. >Gary
The one thing i didnt like about n2 1999 is that in order to play network play between 2 computers, you have to load n2 via dos mode instead of win95/98 mode. This sucks since you have to load the ipx drivers for the network cards and you know how imcompatible 2+ different brands of network cards can be. I trick n2 into loading into dos mode thru window shortcut but now on 1 computer, the steering wheel wont work in dos mode... argh CASTER

Hehe! John, in some states of the U.S. (warm climate) you would have been beaten up for a sarcastic joke about Nascar... ;^) l8er ronny -- Toys'R'Us '99: "So, would you like a hand gun with that action figure, kiddo?" |\ _,,,---,,_ I want to die like my Grandfather, ZZZzz /,`.-'`' -. ;-;;,_ in his sleep. |,4- ) )-,_. ,\ ( `'-' Not like the people in his car, '---''(_/--' `-'\_) screaming their heads off!

Might want to change the subject line on these posts. I've been following this string for a week off and on, and it's always been about N2000. Not trying to spit in anyone's lunch, just an observation. :-)
