Logitech Driving Force Pro 900-degree wheel in NR2003

Pez found the 900-degree Logitech Driving Force Pro made ovals easier but road courses harder in NR2003. Steve Smith noted that real cars need far more steering lock than typical sim wheels, and Alan Le described calibrating to about 450 to 540 degrees. Pez later rated its force feedback the best he had used on PC.

So guys, whos with me in thinking its harder to drive the roadies with the 900 wheel but easier to drive the roundy rounds with it? one things for sure, going from a BRD wheel to an MSFF wheel to a Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel with 900 degrees of rotation (but still using those amazing BRD pedals, and im only talking about their old ones!) takes ALOT of getting used to! cool wheel. pez
Think of it the other way around. My friend Michael, who is a whiz at computer racing and RW motorbike racing (Ducati), tried his hand at Formula Dodge. He said the difference between RW and computer racing that's hardest to get used to was how small the angular wheel movement is w. computer racing. It the RW, it takes great big fistfuls of lock to turn in, even w. a twitchy single-seater. I found it to be a problem going from my BRD F1 Sim wheel to caterhams, the wheel is almost the same size, yet the caterham wants gobs of lock! the formula fords ive raced always seemed quite similar to the BRD wheel. Ive suggested to BRD that they include a software controlled 'steering lock limit' that can activate a lock 'lock' mechanism that limits rotation in their new wheel depending on where a game wants it (iiuc its dictated by the maximum degree angle that the front wheels can physically turn in the well and the steering ratio, so you dont get more or less lock on the fronts exaclty, its just the amount of turns on your steering wheel thats changed, the speed of steering). Now, to get the GTR people to talk to the BRD people about this kinda thing, then we'd be in nirvana! pez "Steve Smith" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3Vgbc.16523$[email hidden]... > Think of it the other way around. Or maybe I'm just not any good. But I was taken aback by how physical it was. I can't imagine what it must be like for the real F1 drivers to fight the g-forces for 2 hours in the heat (like Bahrain this weekend). -- Ped Xing GPLRank -31.657 "A good racing driver doesn't really look like he's going that fast; but in fact it's a clean, smooth, progressive performance that supplies the real speed." -Sir Jackie Stewart

I calibrate using ~450 degrees of lock for roadies and ~540 degrees for ovals. Then, I use the steering ratio in the setup to fine-tune the response. It'd be nice if the degrees of lock were adjustable. Just thought of something... wouldn't it be nice if SBDT designed GTR to work well with the DFP? Alan

Is this for PC? Logitech site said this is for PlayStation2.
Prolly is a PS2 part, but being USB, prolly also works w. a PC. BTW. some (but not all) PC wheels work w. the PS2. You'd think Microsoft, which championed USB (over Firewire, hyped by archrival Apple) would've incorporated USB in the Xbox, but nooooooooooooo.............. How does it's force feedback compares to other PC wheels, when connected to PC. As far as I know, the PlayStation only supports rumbles/vibrations. Righto. There may be actual force feedback, but what I felt was only rumble. GT4 may have actual FF...if the 900-deg. TM wheel supports it. Hmm. GT4 is PlayStation. What I really want to know is how does Pro force feedback compare to like MOMOs, when it's used with PC/USB, playing PC racing sims. Any more feedback on this one? I find a 900 degree wheel a most tempting proposal.... Regards, Mark
Sorry for the late response. Its force feedback effects are better than those of the MSFF (which was my previous wheel, which now sits on my floor next to my BRD F1 Sim - im just waiting for FF on those things!). Id say its the best FF wheel out there based on what ive used so far. pez "Mark Davison" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:lvqgc.33832$Y%[email hidden]...

Never been in the military and too young to be retired. :) Funny you should mention it though. I work in a call center where everything has an acronym, and I've had more than one person ask me that. Alan "Larry" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:wMdic.9191$VQ3.3264@lakeread06...
