Instant Access's Perfect Grand Prix track pack for GP2

Posters discussed Instant Access's Perfect Grand Prix add-on for Grand Prix 2, due in September, and asked for a demo track. Some were sceptical about quality and possible FIA licensing issues, while others hoped for drivable kerbs. It was to be sold by mail order from the UK.

Any chance you could put a demo track on your website? Like maybe Donnington or Brands hatch while we wait until the September release. I think it would boost your sales :) go on give us a freebie..
Errr... that's been avail. on the www for months. What else ya got. I'd like a dollar for every***pit & setup avail. on the www. Come on, get me interested. What else ya got. :-o Mmmm... That got the eyebrows moving in an upwards direction. Okay, now that ya got me interested, how's about posting one of the tracks for all to try before parting with our hard earned. Hundreds of people are waiting >impatiently to get their hands at such piece of software (including ME :-) ) One thing that I am eager to see, if someone managed to break the track code or obtained the program sources or whatever, its that they first start by making the kerbs more drivable. It drove me crazy yesterday when I saw Berger and Co. clipping all the kerbs like crazy, when in GP2 a slight touch with the front whell either makes the car jump or sends it into a spin. Karim

The wierd thing was that only Berger seemed to be clipping the kerb, as it was a very steep one. Luckily for Gerhard, there was a slight bump before it which levered the wheel onto it, reducing strain on the suspension. -- Dave Bowers

It looks like more of a utilities pack. Sort of like the ICR2/Nascar utility packs you can buy in stores now... No mention of new tracks, besides could there be liability issues with the FIA by making unauthorized reproductions of the new tracks? Anyway, here's my dream: Have the 17 slated grand prixs, then a list of optional replacement Grand Prixs. Eg. Have the Europian GP in Brands Hatch, Zolder, Paul Richard, etc.!! Include Mosport Park as well, corner 2 is on par with Eau Rouge in terms of testing drivers ability.
with our hard earned. << This is an excellent idea. After seeing the junk that some people try to pass off as ' improvements ' I doubt I'll spend a penny on any more of these kind of packs unless I can see beforehand the kind of standard being achieved by the producers. If the standard is at least as good as original Gp2 tracks then this sounds like a great addition and I'll most certainly buy it. But if I can't test the track standard I'll wait until I hear the feedback on this forum about this product. One thing these forums are very useful for..., if a product stinks we all soon know not to waste our money on it. Here's hoping that this product doesn't stink and will live up to the high hopes even the suggestion of such a product engenders. > How much in US ? I don't know that it will be available retail in the US, but you can order it from their website at www.instantaccess.com and they'll ship it to you here at 20 pounds pus actual shipping (converted at the going rate when it ships). You may also have to pay a small amount of duty when the package arrives.

>One question: are there any plans to release a track-EDITOR? I mean, if there is >a market for anything, then it is for an editor!! Hundreds of people are waiting >impatiently to get their hands at such piece of software (including ME :-) ) Not exactly to the point, but close. I sent Instant Access an e-mail asking if their tracks will have usable kerbs (I'll stick to the UK spelling, it is cooler:), and since they have the know-how to create tracks, could they change the existing tracks kerbs to make them usable. To my surprise they said they share my concern about kerbs (it is good when game software is written by gamers), that their new tracks will have usable kerbs, as well as the updated Imola and Silverstone circuits. Unfortunately they cannot change the data (kerbs or whatever) in the original GP2 tracks since it would infringe on Microprose's copyright. I sent them another e-mail asking for more details on what would and what would not infringe on that copyright, but have not received an answer yet. Karim

Rather than infringe on any copyright, why dont IA redo ALL the tracks, in the 97 format. That way, the tracks will be all their own work. No problems :-) Cheers.....Ken Remove "NOSPAM" from address before replying
