Hi..
I've heard reviews from various sources stating that NFS2 is not as good as
the first and only received lukewarn scores ??
Why ?

Why Need for Speed II got poor reviews
A poster asked why Need for Speed II was reviewed poorly. Critics cited dropped features, weak tracks, poor handling and low frame rates on PC and the PAL PlayStation version, while a few preferred it to the original. The thread ended with lists of PlayStation cheat codes for hidden cars.
Automated summary.

>Simple - it's a pile of crap, just like the first one. If you feel a
>desperate urge to play it I'd strongly suggest renting it.
So looking at the specifics that you site (sic) I would have to say that you
don't like games that you don't shoot stuff or beat people up or play some
lame'o sports sim.
That's fine, but until you can site specific complaints, your opinion won't
hold much credibility with people.

Yes.. it is MUCH better than the first..
Unfortunately, that isn't saying MUCH since the first one blew for PSX.

Why? They dropped half a dozen features and added nothing but crappy
tracks, crappy cars and a low frame rate.

know the Playstation version is great as you say. Maybe that's the
problem with it - they programmed it for the Psx and did a crappy port
to PC.

The PC version has the same flaw.

Is
there a way to get that on the PC version?

Just as a point of interest (and not to necessarily agree or disagree
with him) one of PSExtreme's reviewers gave this game a score of 92
out of 100.
I've played the game on the PS quite a bit, and personally I like it
fine in most respects. But then I've never driven a high performance
auto in my life so I can't speak to the degree of realism.
One thing I dislike considerably is that the steering wheel has *very*
few frames of animation. It jerks suddenly from centered to far right
ot far left. Very distracting. But I get away from it by only playing
with an out-of-car camera angle.
Another thing I don't like is that ordinary traffic isn't realistically
destructable. But most players probably won't care about that unless
they have the same malign impulses as myself.

How does it compare to the origional NFS on the PSX. If it doesn't have
rally mode that sucks. Does it have link up? How about dirt tracks of any
kind. Or the supper car? I also have NFS on the 3DO. The 3DO varsion
has more detailed graphics and the stearing is quicker on the 3DO. But
the PSX varsion wins hands down with it dirt tracks and two player
modes.
Andy.
Andy rent the game don't buy it unless you love it after that. The cars
Suck they jump off the tracks (mostly just before a sharp turn Making
you flip like crasy) No dirt tracks, They say you can drive off the
tracks but only where they want you to and then mostly just to a dead
end or a short cut that doesn't help.

So what that it doesn't have rally tracks... and the super car is called
the ford indigo... You couldn't get rally tracks without a code so what
does that matter for someone who doesn't know the code... They have never
played it, so how do they miss it? However though, I still like rage
racer better... but only because of my steering wheel.

sucked.... BUT.... This was before I heard about the secret code that allow
you to use ANY of the cars in the game. You want fun on the PSX put these
codes in.
POWRUP - Pioneer engines
SEMIME - Semi truck BUGME - VW Bug
BMRME - BMW YJME - Jeep YJ
TREXME - T-rex BUSME - School Bus
MAZME - Madza Miata BNZME - Mercedes Benz
replace the "ME" for "U" to allow the 2nd player to use these codes.
There are more but these are some of my favs. For real fun put in the powerup
code and semime. It gives you a semmi that'll do 200+ m.p.h. You no longer
flip (at least not as much) when you hit someone, you knockem out of you way.
GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
