NASCAR 2 demo is awesome

Fake claim of having the NASCAR Racing 2 demo

A poster claimed to have played the NASCAR Racing 2 demo and said GP2 sucked. Papyrus's Adam Levesque replied that the demo had not been released yet, that its 18MB size was a problem for distribution, and asked people not to bash GP2. Users suggested splitting the file or distributing it on magazine CDs.

Well, I really don't know how you got the demo. It hasn't been released yet. Problem right now is that it is over 18MB. So, we have to figure out how we can get that up on the net. Anyway, please, please refrain from saying it's way better than GP2. We all get quite enough of that. Let's wait until the game comes out and then judge it on its own merits. Adam Papyrus

Adam, Why not just post it to Sierra's ftp site as is for people with fast connections, and then split it up onto say 4 5meg parts for those with slower connections. Even over a 14.4 connection you should be able to get at least 5 megs in an hour (I get 11 or so at 28.8). Large demos like this (10 megs+) are becoming the norm now. I don't have a problem spending close to 2 hours downloading it. -- Emory University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences Nascar Setups Page: http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~ebusch/

18 meg!? That's bad for me because I'm on a local service provider which has limited modems so they kick me off after 2 hours ( Unlimited access though )! With a 14.4 that allows 7.5 megs to be downloaded. Please release a version in split files ( like 6 split files of 3 megs each ). If I can't download it I don't know what I'll do. -- B.J. I don't understand. How long does it take them to figure out how to get it on the net. We have all seen similar sized files posted. Come on guys you have had all day to put it on the net. Get on with it. Or stop teasing us with info. Don't you guys remember what happened when you told us you would have a patch for ICR2? > > Well, I really don't know how you got the demo. With my 14.4 modem I can download close to 3 megs per hour. That's 6 hours of downloading. And remember it's taking up the FTP server for 6 hours, not just my computer. I think it's good they're looking at ways to make the archive smaller. ------------------ Kyle Langston ------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.traction.git.net/nrcentral/ - NASCAR Racing Central -------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there any chance that the demo might be put on a CD-ROM that the public can get with PC Gamer or some other *** magazine. I know there is no way my computer can download one file that is 18MB. Maybe if the game was put in separate files?

Speaking for myself only, I would gladly spend a couple of hours downloading the demo. Please post it. Were all very anxious to give it a whirl.

How about sending a copy of the demo to all registered owners of NASCAR Racing in the mail?

>I just got the demo and all I can say is wow and GP2 SUCKS : ) You think Youall got problems... My server is such a mess that netscape locks up the connection if I try to download anything over about 1.5Mg so my only hope will be if it comes in *very* small bites or to have someone patient enough to mail it to me as an attachment :( And I have up to 14hrs per 7 days of access. Use about 10 minutes a day. Figures huh, most of you don't have the connect time but do have solid connections, I have the time and a BS connection <sob, whine, howl> Ron R II *********************************************** ** Keep the shiny side up & the hammer down ** *** Ron "Cougar" Riekens II *** **** Owner - Driver **** **** Medallion Motorsports/*** Photography **** *** NASS ARCA Series #96 Pontiac *** ***********************************************

: > why not just give the demo to for example... PC Gamer? : > : How about sending a copy of the demo to all registered owners of NASCAR : Racing in the mail? No, that wouldn't be very expensive! While they are at it, why don't they just send the full version out too, to all registered owners of Nascar 1. Then we really would see the end of Papyrus. __________________________________________________________ '56 Ford F-100 __________________________________________________________
