Hi world
I was watching the live coverage of Friday 2nd free practice on EuroSport
when one of the commentators (Not John Watson) said that Villie had been using
a new GrandPrix game to learn the course. I wonder what one :)
I bet he has all the pedals & stearing gear on a 200mhz pentium
witha 21"+ screen
Rob
Notable threadJacques Villeneuve used Grand Prix 2 to learn Spa
Posters reported TV commentators and newspapers saying Jacques Villeneuve had learned the Spa circuit on a computer game before the 1996 Belgian GP, which was presumed to be GP2. He reportedly qualified only 18th in the game, which amused the group. Some joked that MicroProse had paid for the mention.
Automated summary.
It must have been Ben Edwards, I heard this too, it would be nice to
know Villeneuves thoughts on the game.

Jacques Villeneuve did manage to get pole for the Belgium race and also said
that in the video game he qualified 18th.

I heard that too on the EPSN page.
I don't know if the setup would be of any use, he said he only qualified 18th.
So there is hope for me yet :-) (not).

Guess he's not going to be in the HOF then..... :-) The guys over on
CompuServe are running 1:47s, and that's about four seconds faster than
the ACE level pole time.
What was Frank Williams number? I wonder if he needs a driver for next
season...... :)
Cheers!
John

I think it`s pretty certain to be GP2, he described it as the "latest
video game". Maybe Palmer could do a Grandstand Guide on it ;-)

Here`s an extract from FRANCE SOIR Saturday 24th:
VILLENEUVE et son jouet grandeur nature
Pret a tout pour remonter sur Hill, il a meme etudie le circuit grace
a un jeu electronique.
Pour se donner toutes les chances possibles, Villeneuve a longuement
jou sur SON ordinateur, avec un nouveau programme, tres raliste,
GPAND PRIX II, de Microprose.
Ready to do everthing possible to catch up on Hill, Villeneuve has
even studied the circuit thanks to a video game.
To give himself all the chances possible, Villeneuve played for a long
time on his computer with the very realistic new program GP2 of
Microprose.

I'm sure he only used GP2 to learn the track.
I dont think he'd be worried about car setups within the game.
I wonder how many sales that was worth? Its a great simulation, if you
live in a world where every Grand Prix is held in perfect weather !!!
I know something, I dont.........
