Since the Papyrus is indeed making Nascar 2, I began to wonder about the Track
Pack. I hope that the current version of the Track Pack will be compatible
with Nascar 2. I would be disappointed if I had to go out and buy another
one. It's bad enough that a patch for Talladega isn't being made......
Will NASCAR 2 include all tracks, Daytona and Indy?
With NASCAR 2 confirmed as in development, posters debated whether the Track Pack would carry over or all tracks would be included, as with ICR2. They also argued over pricing and Papyrus's right to make money. Others explained that Daytona's likeness was licensed exclusively elsewhere and that Indianapolis would need the speedway's approval. Posters reported that NASCAR 2 car sets would be incompatible and that the press release mentioned 16 tracks.

What would be even nicer is if they just included ALL the tracks with the
game, like they did for ICR2....a track pack is kind of a crappy way to do
things if you ask me....it's like they either released the game before it
was finished or did this on purpose to make more money.
I say include all the tracks with the first game.

Shock, horror - Payrus are in it to make money? Really? ;)
They're a company - if they hadn't made money on NASCAR Racing, you
wouldn't be getting NASCAR 2 at all. I agree that all tracks should be
included, since most everyone has already bought them once, but
additional track packs covering further NASCAR tracks would be most
welcome - you can never have too many tracks :) !!
Now Daytona would be a lovely surprise in NASCAR 2.....

to make the Daytona for us now would we.

I'd say there's a good chance they will. They've already said that Track
Packs are a net loser for them. And ICR2 has certainly set a precedence.

Wait, how many hours would you say that you have put into racing with
the NASCAR an the Track Pack CD's? I know I've logged at least a
thousand hours of racing Off-line/On-line with mine. A company with a
great product should make money, yes? Papyrus should be charging us
$100 for both, when they come out with Nascar2. I'll pay it!!! :)

But I doubt you'll be seeing Nascar2 before Xmas, so a summertime
release of this track will be very nice.

I think it is more likely that they will box NASCAR 2 with the full
set of tracks (like IndyCar Racing 2). It's difficult to know how
else they can see themselves adding sufficient "value" to the existing
NASCAR product to make it attractive to gamers, but I would imagine
that they might consider the following areas:
- include Hawaii support in the boxed game
- improved sound - pit/car radio
- possibly even car/pit radio for those with
microphones (as long as it doesn't hog too
many CPU cycles with voice recognition).
- enhanced replay features (e.g. more intelligent replays which
mimick those you get in a real broadcast; switching between the
different camera views and following all the on-track action. Could
also have a commentator feature).
- Windows 95 support
- support for many different 3D graphics accelerator boards
- even more enhanced driver A.I.
What does everyone else think??

Yikes... don't give 'em any ideas!!! I'd gladly pay a fair amount
for the game when it arrives, but $100 bucks is a tad too much, dontcha'
think?

Your right. Let's make enjoyment the basis of price for everything. So
Nascar2 should be about $1000.00. And since your boss probably only
marginally enjoys your presence during work, you should be paid at minumim
wage. NOW try to buy the game.
I'm not saying that Papyrus shouldn't make money, but the Track Pack could
have had at least a fix for Talladega. Agreed?

I think you are right. They need to do all these things and some more
stuff.

Or perhaps Terry is tenured? Or
perhaps Terry is related to the owner? Ever think about that, Mike? Don't
get smart, any fool can find error in any argument.
Mike- My position is as such: Chances are that Nascar2 will not be able to
run on my computer because its not a 133 Pentium or better. That's why I want
a patch for Talladega. I have NO problems with Papryus making money, we are
indeed in a capitalist society (yes, I'm a poor Republican). I am willing to
pay money for the patch. But I think it should have been included in the
Track Pack since its been only a year since it has been released. But now
Papyrus is issuing Nascar2 which is the patch that should have been in the
Track Pack.
BTW- I don't have anything against Terry, he simply stated an opinion that
added to this discussion....
> If Papyrus/Sierra put out a Daytona track then we wouldn't
>need THE PITS to make the Daytona for us now would we.
It is obvious that both Daytona and Indy will be included
with NASCAR 2, either in the original release or in an
additional track pack. That is why the track pack for ICR1
was discontinued and why they are threating legal action
against anyone releasing a Daytona track. Remember, NASCAR 2
will be sanctioned by NASCAR itself. There is no way they
would leave Daytona and/or Indy out of the package.
Chuck Stuart - Mesquite TX USA

It's not that obvious to us, Chuck. Daytona seems to be a logical
choice to put in NASCAR 2, but Papyrus is still unsure if the owners
of the Daytona trademark will switch the license to them when Sega's
expires. THEY are not threatening legal action; Daytona is. Also,
NASCAR does not own the Indy trademark, so you'd have to ask Tony
George about that.
Enough with this Oliver Stone crap. You actually believe Papyrus is
trying to dupe us into believing IMS and Daytona aren't going to be
included? Are you saying they're manipulating the market like you
suggest?
No wonder Ed and Rick are starting to get frazzled.

REALLY? Then why wasn't Daytona included in the original version of NASCAR
Racing and the Track Pack? NASCAR approved the original product, but the
Daytona track itself has control over the use of its name and likeness.
So, it's entirely up to Daytona, NOT NASCAR. I would not be at all
surprised if Daytona is not included in NASCAR 2.
Kirn Cromur
In addition to Kirn's post, Indy is NOT Nascar, and you'll have to get
IMS approval (Tony George of IRL fame), not Nascar. I doubt you'll
see the Brickyard unless Sierra/Papyrus has done some talkin' to the
right people in Tony's kingdom.

Will there be 2 different cars sets like Indy Car and Indy Car 2 or will
the be
backwards compatible???

From what I heard, the carsets are incompatible between NASCAR 1 and 2.
They are providing a lot more surface area for painting.

I'm new to the newsgroup.. only just discovered it existed!
I heard something about a Nascar 2 . I'd like to add my own input to
what I'd like to see improved..
Paralax Sky ! Clouds etc..
Digital SPEECH PLEASE! Pit crews telling you stuff. Telling you how
many laps left.. telling you to pit soon, telling you everything! IN
fact how about words of encouragement! Like "Your doing great!"
But just like Falcon 3.0 I want tonnes of different possibilities for
Digital speech for one particular event - so not just the same voice
saying in the same tone - "One lap to pit"
I'd like to hear them tell me how people are running ahead of me etc,
of they've got problems, or behind me, if someone is gaining in the
field!
Thats the main improvement I want from Nascar 2 ...
I would also like the VR aspect, but you guys were already talking
about that..
Sure! and how about (when you're black flagged for speeding in the
pits, the voice telling you (after 2-3 laps of ignoring the flag)
"Come on in. You know, you can't argue with these guys!" :D
They're not bugs! They're random features!
