Prior to N3, I loved Sears Point, but without the carosel and the hairpin,
just doesn't have any "soul" left. Lately been in a South-Boston Mode.

Man, I HATE Darlington!!! Couldn't wait for my AI race to be over in my
season. I ran 25% and was "only" 3 or 4 laps down at the end. Really
kicked my ass, it did!! lol.
My fav's Daytona. I run well and qual well there. Bristol's "fun" but
it's not my favorite to run.
Gunner
I currently have 3 favourites (I don't play on-line):
Bristol because it is a rush to go so fast in so small an area
Dover because the AI seem especially smart and agressive there
And my current top track:
Phoenix! Seems like the FF is better here than anywhere - it's a real effort
to stay off the wall at speed. This track feels like a road course with no
right turns. And it seems like the car oversteers more realistically here -
get out of shape coming out of a corner and end up crashing midway down the
straight (like some drivers at Texas last Sunday!).

Phoenix is an awesome track as are most all of the flat tracks. Took me a
long time to get the hang of Phoenix (all of N1 and probably half of N2's
life span LOL) but once I did it is by far one of my best/favorite tracks.
I guess my overall favorite N3 track though would have to be Nashville.
All time favorite track would be Hickory.
It is a direct slap in the face to their customers that the bastages at
Havas/Sierra/Papy don't have the balls to support tracks that no longer come
with the latest release of the game.
Just one of the many reasons I will no longer support their continued
releases of N2 engine based titles.

While you can't see the tracks in the racing lobbies, you can
race pretty much any track you want by using the ip address feature.
All ya have to do is announce the track and ip# and let anyone who has
it join in. We race the ICR2/CART tracks online with the latest N3
patches. And I'm betting, since there was a hack in the early days of
the beta patch, that allowed posting of the other tracks, it will only
be awhile before somebody hacks the last beta patch so that all the
tracks are visible again. (just my hunch there)

Thing is you can't tell me that the folks that own Hickory, Mesa,
Flemington, and so forth and so on give a rats ass whether we are racing
likenesses of their tracks online or not.
Hell a large number of the tracks that are filtered from the WON sewer are
still under license to Papy. The whole thing just plain stinks to me. Hell
they even filter Bull Run and Red Rock. Their OWN creations.
Of course I have a suspicion that it's an all or nothing thing the way the
filter works. So even if it wasn't an issue of legality, or whatever their
reasoning is to filter, it's still just tuff luck to us the users.

Michigan is one of my favorites too - first race I ran there was with
N1 over a modem with a friend - the damn traffic was intoxicating -
turning into 3 still doing 197 so close to the car in front that all I
could see of the back was his spoiler with a car right behind me and
right beside me, staying like that all the way to turn 1, I was
instantly sold...
Can't pick ONE favorite tho' - Michigan, Sears Point (never been able
to do well, but I love it), Talladega, Milwaukee sweet Milwaukee, Mesa
Marin (rowdy as hell and reminds me of my local track), Bristol,
absolutely love Bull Run (not a real track but it should be), I hated
the N1 version but ever since N2/99 I've really grown fond of N.
Wilkesboro, ohhhhh POcono, heartbreaker Charlotte, I royally enjoyed
the old Atlanta (wish they had left it alone...), and although they're
not N3 or even N for that matter Laguna Seca and Cleveland in stock
cars just does something to me...

it's a GPL kinda day :)
Gotta go faster than you would ever think you could possibly go there.
Barely lift into 1 and enter down low. Right along the left edge of the
"groove".
Timing the braking point in 3 is critical too. Brake hard that little patch
of what looks like armco in the outside wall gets about the center of your
windshield. Gotta time it to where you catch that bump just right.
Try to hold around 165 in 1-2 and 145 in 3-4 for starters. Then start
working towards 170 on the big end and 150 or so on the little end.
Going to slow is death at Darlington. Took me a long time to figure that
out. It really is a fun track once you get the hang of it.

My favorite track is Ontario in NL, followed by Indy in N3, and then each
track in the opposite sim...then Dega in NL, but N3 Dega is waaay down
because it doesn't have the 20-lap-gotta-pit-or-die thing...I like having a
36 lap race be a one-stopper but a 43 lap race absolutely necessitating two
stops :)

N3 is the stepchild of N99 and N2 which have somewhat similar track
contructions that date back all the way the ICR2.(now called All
American Cart Racing or jut Cart Racing)
So with convertors that are available and some extra work from the
guys from the USPits, you can take any track Papy has created, including
the old old road courses from Cart and use them in N3. We run leagues
on Sunday, and soon Wednesday night that use road courses exclusively,
not only the N3 road courses like Sears and Watkins, but the old old old
Mid Ohio, Laguna Seca, and Road America from CART. I also expect a
convertor soon that will open up some of the flatter GPL tracks to N3
drivers.
part II: There was in the early days of Online N3 racing, a patch
that allowed a host's track to be seen by all, even if it was not
supported by Won/Papy/Sierra. I expect, that whomever figured out how
to do that, is already prying apart the newer Papy patches to allow the
function again. While I appreciate Papy's wanting to limit the
tracks, this makes support on their end much easier, I own all the
tracks, and convertors and since I've been driving them in some form or
another for years, I expect to be able to continue that online as well.

The
only limit was the 40 track limit in the host's all.cal and the 64 track
limit of the tracks folder. Then during the "early" days of the beta
patching process the calendar limit was raised to 60. Still could see any
track that a host desired to put up. Well any that was based on a N2, N99,
N3 or NL track anyway. I can't really speak to how it handled some of the
tracks you mention using regularly. Then around the 1100 series of beta
patches if I remeber right is when the filtering of any non-N3 tracks was
put in place.
That's the thing that really bites is that they took something away that we
already had and had become accustomed to using.
Hopefully this will all be remedied before to long and we can all crawl up
out of the sewer and have a user based system that WE can control.

Hands Down, THE GLEN!!!
Nope I'm pretty sure the new convertor is a one way deal so far where
you enable older tracks or N3 tracks to work with GPL. The N2>ICR2 and
ICR2>N2 convertor is a package deal from theuspits.com Same Dave
Noonan, just his earlier work. There is a 3 track demo also available
from the pits for free, but the full convertor is $15.

I have to agree, at first the best i could run at darlington in N2 was about
163 then i started just lifting instead of braking into what is now turn 1 and
picked up to 168 for lap speeds.
