New NASCAR 4 screenshots

Posters admired new NASCAR 4 screenshots but noticed that the tar-sealed cracks at Talladega repeated in an obvious pattern. Others said this would be less visible in motion, joked about 'canned cracks', and discussed overclocking Celerons to run the game.

i dunno... the cracks at tally look pretty realistic to me... the real track is ugly like that, too :) i already have some $ stashed for #3- although i might try the cheap way out and attempt a celeron 566@850 or whatever if others have luck with that combo.... If you look closely, you'll notice the cracks at Tally are canned in that the same "crack" design is repeated over and over down the track. Look closely and you'll see it. The 3 different lanes have a unique crack design, but that design is repeated down the track. Would be nice to see more realistic random cracks, because in it's current form it does look pretty bad. I was just about to say the same thing. You really don't notice it on the first pic at Degga, but it's real easy to pick out on that second one. A bit of an annoyance with the repitition, at least to me. -Pav On Tue, 27 Jun 2000, David R. Ericson wrote:

I'd be willing to bet there will be a hot key to turn off the cracks for those who find them not up to snuff. Which is to say the cracks aren't all they are cracked up to be. dave henrie "John Pavlicek" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

hey, Slot- that sounds like something that i might be very interested in.... even my budget can handle that... i was thinking about just taking my chances, but $30 for guaranteed o/c sounds pretty reasonable... and i'm lucky enough to have A/C in here- so it never hits 90 :) any leads on GeForce2 cards :) ? please send me the contact info.... my email address is just the reply-to (yeah, i know i should spam-block....) thanks, mark "GTX_SlotCar" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:v2e65.10684$[email hidden]... > Mark, if you're interested in oc'ing a 566, I can give you the email ofthe > guy I bought mine from. Correct. Look at the grass textures in GPL from a replay TV camera view, compared to sitting in the car. They look boring and repetitive from a replay view, but get the job done in car. Stephen

David and John, you guy's need to take a break. There are "random cracks" appearing all right, but they are not a Talladega, if you get my drift !! "DoubleU" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Mark, if you're interested in oc'ing a 566, I can give you the email of the guy I bought mine from. He guaranteed it @920, but I had it running @ 960Mhz for a while. Problem at 960 was when my room temp hit 90 it sometimes crashed. At 920 it never crashes.Usually you only pay about $30 more for a guaranteed oc'er. Can also give you the best place for price and fast delivery on the Golden Orb fan/heatsink and Abit SlotKet. Altogether it'll run about $170 to $175. -- Slot www.slottweak.com Tweaks & Reviews "Mark Stahl" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8jaso9$mpe$[email hidden]... > i dunno... the cracks at tally look pretty realistic to me... the real track > is ugly like that, too :) > > i already have some $ stashed for #3- although i might try the cheap way out > and attempt a celeron 566@850 or whatever if others have luck with that > combo.... > > > "Andrew Turner" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:[email hidden]... > > 1) Let's see some crashes already. > > > > 2) Those tarred cracks at Talladega look pretty bad. > > > > 3) Time to save up for a 1ghz processor. > > > > Andrew > > > > Brian Summers wrote: > > > > > http://www.gamecenter.com/Peeks/Gamegrab/Nascar4/?st.gc.fd.nt.i > > > > > > Awesome detail on infields, tracks. > > > >

OK guys... enough abuse already... I don't want moving cracks or have some poor old woman's back breaking. LOL I never said I wouldn't buy N4 or would take it back if the canned cracks at Dega weren't fixed. All I did was point out a flaw shown in a pre-release snapshot and indicate that it would be nice if the cracks were more realistic. It would also be nice if I was handed 10 million dollars, but that doesn't mean if it doesn't happen soon I'm going to give up on life or something. All it means is that I would be a bit happier with life, should it actually happen. I only made an observation and stated my wish for an enhancement. You people are just plain mean! ;-P Dave BTGoss wrote:
