N4 demo, NO other cars on track

NASCAR 4 demo lacks AI cars

A user complained that the NASCAR 4 demo had no AI opponents. Others replied that the multiplayer worked, that earlier Papyrus demos including GPL's had no AI, and that the demo was meant to show handling and system demands. Users reported that its online connections were more robust than NASCAR 3's.

Although many with 56k modems are going to be fighting to the end to get the 80 meg download complete to have a free demo to last them until the full game comes out, in my opinion, the fun factor is cut in half with no other cars on the track with you like the other demos I've tried, ie, DTRSC, NH, Insane, I thought I'd let you know you will be racing? alone on the track. Fun to some extent, but it ain't no NH as far as getting a "racing" demo. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I race GPL regularly at 21.6kbps. I'd assume N4's requirements are similar. How many people don't have a connection that fast? The game keeps locking up on me. But if what you say is true, then this is the lamest demo I have ever downloaded. It wouldn't even deserve to be called a demo. Wonder who at Papyrus has the wonderful idea of pulling this stupid move. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:903tn5$l4h$[email hidden]...

Personally I havent raced against AI since ICR2, and N4 demo allows multi. no complaints here. But for those who buy sims for realsitic ai, could papy possibly be hiding somthing? :) Charlie "Tim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:YbkV5.95834$[email hidden]... > The game keeps locking up on me. please.....how many cars were in the N2 demo? The N3 demo? We are not getting the demo released to race and race. We are getting an advanced look at the handling the cars will exhibit and the strains it will place on our systems. Yes Nascar Heat had 12 cars and as I recall quite a few people were dissing MGI for ONLY 12 cars boo hoo... If you think the demo should be a mini game, then yes you will be disapointed, but if you look at the demo as a technologcal review, then you get lots... dave henrie "Tim" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:YbkV5.95834$[email hidden]... > The game keeps locking up on me. One word....MULTI-PLAYER (or is that two words with a hyphen in it). Why race against 2 or 3 or even 12 AI cars when you can race up to 43 real people? <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:903tn5$l4h$[email hidden]...

Agree 100%. I'm enjoying the demo to the extent it was designed.... as a DEMONSTRATOR of what to expect in the final version. Hell, I enjoy Nascar 3, so i'm pretty sure i'll like Nascar 4 from the little I see here. After playing with the demo I fired up Nascar Heat to compare graphics, etc. All I can say is its really too bad Nascar Heat has the crappy starts and yellows, as it really is a pretty game.. Hopefully N4 will be N3 with better physics (which the demo has) and graphics, that alone will be worth my buying.. It was the same with the GPL demo. No AI, just you & 1 track. And the rest, as they say, is legend. :-) This one will go places. -- Chuck Kandler Linux, because life's too short for a buggy OS. Registered Linux User #180746 http://counter.li.org

I don't think connection speed will be as big an issue in N4 as it was in N3. I run both GPL and N4 off the same server and people are getting the same quality of a connection. One gentleman (I use that term lightly <G>) I know in Australia had excellent connections to my GPL server and I suspect he will in N4. I know others that race on 28.8 modems (and I have raced on a 14.4 when my fast connection when belly up for a few days) and had no problems. I'll give you that point but, like in GPL or N3, if you race with people you know you won't have that problem. Also it's extremely easy for the server host to give the boot to an idiot. Mike "Amp" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

LOL.. I got a good chuckle out of this. Not too long ago (and still going on) there were many that suggested that GPL didn't sell well because of the physics. They say it was too hard to drive so no one wanted to buy it (or something simular to that effect). I wonder how many will say the same about N4. ;-)

Hell, we're already getting some NH fans that are unhappy with N4, & it's only a pre-alpha for crying out loud. :-) -- Chuck Kandler Linux, because life's too short for a buggy OS. Registered Linux User #180746 http://counter.li.org

I'm just more interested in which is more realistic. NH cars pull to the left too in hardcore mode, but N4 pulls a lot harder. Which is closer to reality?

A analogue modem is heaps fast enough for a client in GPL, N4 and all other games/sims i have tried on-line and will provide for excellent stable connections and warp free play, providing the client has taken the time to set up his/her modem for internet play.. The biggest mistake analogue users make for on-lione play is to connect at 56k, thinking the lower latency readings are more important than quality readings.. (big mistake) Quality is more important than speed for a client... Cheers, Ron (supposed gentleman)
