Re: The BAD thing about NASCAR 4

Joke that NASCAR 4 only turns right twice

Regular Racer joked that NASCAR Racing 4 only turns right at two tracks, and several readers missed the joke. Discussion followed of road course TV ratings, whether GPL-style physics suit ovals, and hopes that GPL tracks could be converted to NASCAR 4 as The Pits had done for NASCAR 3.

Speaking of which, anyone notice that one of the road course races last year finished well ahead of many of the "fan favorite" tracks in TV raitings? Maybe NASCAR will get the message that going in a circle every week except 2 is pretty boring.

HERE HERE It is still my opinion that despite the excelence of the GPL Physics engine, it is not suited toward oval racing. I take little pleasure in 15 seconds lap times that you complete 500 times or more for a single race. Papa we've been racing "some" of the gpl tracks in N3 for most of the year. Check out the tptpcc pages at the uspits. Now if N3 can run gpl tracks, the chances are that N4, which is largely built from gpl, should be even easier to accomodate. Ask yourself this question....In N3 all the tracks have a wall between the track and pits..even tracks like Charlotte and Talladege that don't have walls....(yeah I know there are patches but...) Now go dig back through the first set of screen shots for N4...what do you see?? No walls...why? Because N4 uses a different track structure than N3...one that is from GPL so "most likely" we will have complete compatibility with one of Noonan's Convertors...(which I have been told is being updated.) dave henrie "Pierre PAPA DOC Legrand" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Don't know exactly where you get your stats, but for some reason, only the Sears Point statistic is off. I've checked four websites to be sure. Sears Point should be sixteenth, not sixth. And I would assume the majority of those viewers tuned in towards the end to see whether or not Jeff Gordon could win without "Ray holding his hand". I don't think it had anything to do with a preference. In case you haven't noticed - Winston Cup road races tend to be boring, Mark Martin dominated affairs.

Well, I can't say for sure, it's early days yet, and the "Ring" has it's own issues, one of them being that it's so friggin BIG, so even though N4 is supposed to have elements of GPL in it, and is supposed to be handling the new track architecture that GPL uses, we won't know for certain for a while yet, but as Dave H said, we've been driving GPL tracks in N3 and NL for a while now, and there will be a GPL -> Nx converter in the not too distant future as Jan said on the "birthday" pages over on "The Pits", so yes, I'm optimistic, and with the combined talents of some people I know :-), I might get to race a Holden Commodore, in Larry Perkins livery of course, around the "Ring"...... Imagine running into you here PD. I haven't been over to csipgfs for a while because I made the big mistake of picking up GPL a few weeks ago. Next thing I know I've purchased an ACT-LABS Force RS wheel with an RS shifter on the way and I burning every friggin' spare moment I've got out on the track. Barely had time to dash off a BoB preview for Sim Arena. I was too eager to put the TM gear away and get the wheel back out. So why the hell didn't I pick up GPL a lot sooner? You weren't kidding when you said it was a religious experience. -- Chris "Ambulater" Lee "Don't Bother Running.........You'll Just Die Tired." This may upset some but I really do believe that GPL is perhaps if not the finest simulator ever created for the PC then at the very least one of the top 3. I have opened up a little bit soley in the realization of just how incredible F/A-18 is as a sim...but there is no denying that I have been playing GPL an awful long time....(and still suck hehe). Played a F-15 Mission last night and was struck again by how fine it is as well.... PAPA DOC PS Glad you finally picked up GPL....its really quite incredible.
