Flame warNASCAR 4 frame rate help derailed by cross-post troll
Chris Cavin asked why NASCAR 4 ran poorly on his GeForce2 MX, and selecting the T&L driver fixed it. A troll cross-posted the thread to other newsgroups and posted nonsense replies, which regulars mocked or killfiled.

It wasn't the reward that mattered or the recognition you might
harvest. It was your depth of commitment, your quality of service, the
product of your devotion -- these were the things that counted in a
life. When you gave purely, the honor came in the giving, and that was
honor enough.

Selecting the TnL driver did the trick. I'm running 1024x768x16 now at
a minimum of 35 fps and hitting 55 once in a while.

Finally, last month, I update my computer to a P-III-600 and GeForce2
MX 32 MB so that it will run GPL at 1024x768 with all details and a
full field at 36 fps all the time.
And then...
I downloaded the N4 demo and had to run 800x600x16 with no details on
to get greater than or equal to 36 fps all the time running all alone.
Doh!
Oh, well. I guess we all have to have something to look forward to,
don't we? My next computer upgrade when N4 is released.
And I don't even like NASCAR. :)

Those numbers don't sound right to me. I have a pretty similar system,
P3-650, GF2 gts and I get 1024*768*16-bit, everything turned on, running at
about 55-60 fps. You should be getting something like 45-50 fps surely.
Are you running at least Detonator 3? (3.18 or higher) Also did you select
the TnL driver?

As said as above.. you most not have setup N4 right. I have a celeron 300a @
374mhz voodoo3 2000 and 64mb ram, 800x600x16 with full detail i get on
average 29fps lowest is around 22. Havent tried with all the detail off, but
it would be alot faster
