Where do ya find the rankings breakdown in N4. I have got to find out how

How NASCAR Racing 4 online rankings are calculated
A user asked how N4's online rankings work. Others said Papyrus had not documented the system, criticised their silence and complained about wreckers in open races, while ymenard argued it resembled the NROS system and would be clarified in a patch.

No one knows. Papy won't tell us.

If you find out, tell the other million of us. Papy will not breath word
one about this, and we know damned well they have seen the outcry for an
explanation page for the Rankings.
I am very dissapointed in their handling of this issue.

Control-Shift while your in your information tab inside N4 is as far as we
know. It's very close to the NROS in terms of how you go up a skill. We
shall just ignore the stats for the moment. Papyrus has just not yet
implemented them fully. Wait until the patch.

Frank,
What he wants, and what we ALL want, is a document, web page, scrawlings in
the sand, whatever that breaks down this ranking system, how you are scored,
damage points system, etc...
The numbers mean nothing right now because we don't know what was done to
_get_ the numbers.
NROS had a specific web page that explained, in detail, the ranking systems.
My preference is to have no less available for the current system.

It pisses me off. Here I drive in a Nascar club and wuld consider myself to be
a good driver. Not the fastest, but rarely get involved in mistakes on the
track. Yet here I run in a few daytona online races and get crashed out on the
starts by a bunch of idiots that try to pass on the start. next race I am
getting passed in turn 3 at Daytona 3 abreast and both people on each side of
me warp and I get a BF out of nowhere.
No my rating is 28lpi and I can't race on any of the brickserver races.
WTF? Some good damn game penalizes me because a bunch of retards are on open
races and enjoy causing wrecks.
COME ON PAPY....

Like I said, there is none, "at the moment". Let's remember N4 is just a
couple of weeks old, and hasn't got patched officially yet. Be sure that
Papyrus knows all about the situation, and that what you see is just a
preview of the real statistics. We will all have a rundown on what exactly
makes us go up a skill. It's still VERY similar to the NROS, almost the
same thing. Somebody could just read the NROS rule and have a 95% idea on
the N4 stats.

It's all a matter of finishing ahead of drivers with better skills.

Just out of curiosity, (and that I've forgotten some of what was
calculated) Didn't NROS calculate your wining positions in your rankings?
If I remember right, they did, please correct me if I'm wrong. Any case,
that was one of the biggest things I absolutely hated about NROS rankings.
You could have an LPI of 50,000,000 but because you never finished a race
above 20th position, you had a relative bad rank. Err.. You were penalized
for finishing last. I'm still getting used to N4 and I do enjoy an
occasional Dega or daytona race. Although I am never the cause of the
wrecks to my knolage, I am still involved with them and end up getting
points reduced. I don't mind this, what I don't like is also having points
reduced because I finished in 15th because of that/those wrecks. I'm
assuming they are calculated in the final rankings because of the negative
numbers I get after each race.
If it were up to me, LPI would be calculated completely and totally
separate from the final rankings. Same with the finishing positions,
completely and totally separate from the final rankings. Same with the X
and the Y and so forth. Each thing that is calculated should have a rank in
it's own and we should *not* have an over all rank. but that's my opinion.
(btw: 5xx.xx lpi at the moment)

As best I can tell, they have side-stepped ALL inquiries into this, like

Welcome to the world of online racing. As long as we have open races that
anyone can join, we're going to have morons that learned their races skills
and etiquette in the Quake arena. This is the biggest reason I hardly ever
race the open races anymore, confining myself mostly to league races. At
least then I know who I'm racing against.

Excuse me but isn't this the whole idea behind strapping a helmet on and going
racing? The higher up the leader board you finish, the better your rankings?
Yes, I believe I read that somewhere.

hmm.. didn't think about this till just now. We used to be able to run
two (or more) ID's on TEN. We would run one for pickup races and one for
League races. Has anyone tried to setup a second account on here yet? I'm
wondering if I did set up a second account, would it take everything from my
old account and transfer it? Or, Would it delete my old account and start a
fresh new account? or, would I have the availability to run either or
account at will?

Gee guys can you just WAIT a little.
Everybody is slamming Papy for AI (which is still excellent and better then
99% of the racing games on the markeT), for Blackflag problems (which are
mostly related to their own on-track faults), Multi problem, etc... It's
still the most complete and by far racing simulation on the market.
People want everything everytime all the time everywhere... geeze relax <G>

But of course, you had to pay an account for each ID screename. You could
have however you wanted, if you could pay the extra 40$ per 3month for each
of them.
Anyway the N4 ranking is NOT important. Rankings are NOT important.

No, you were only penalised if you finished behind people who had skills
like you/under you, and also from incidents.

It's okay ;) Actually it wasn't not all whom had the same or below skills
as you, it was a maximum 3skills from you. Thus if you were in a 0-15 Dega
race and you were a skill race, all the 0-11 skill guys who beat you had no
effect on your score. I loved the system, I'm very sure that it's almost
the same in N4. I've checked out my track results (Control-Shift on your
name in the profile pop-up) and it looks very similar. I could check out my
NROS stuff as I was the first NROS Guide, but it's stuff on the past. I
think I've deleted them anyways...
I'm sure when the time is come and Papyrus feels their statistic system is
good (notice LPI aren't counted most of the time), we will know all about
their system.
