Howdy folks,
not just a few tweaked sounds but a complete package! A lot of work and
beta-testing has been put into this, and it really rocks. I haven't been so
satisfied with a SoundPack production since a long time :)
The SoundPack comes with a professional installation and uninstallation
routine, covering the whole range from engine to crash sounds.
Grab it at the NEW MeatWater Website!

MeatWater releases NASCAR 4 sound pack
MeatWater announced a full replacement sound pack for NASCAR Racing 4 with an installer. Users praised the crash and skid sounds; some found the engine sound muffled or crackly, especially with Sound Blaster Live cards, and MeatWater explained that app.ini engine settings must be at default. Some asked for loose WAV files instead of an installer.
Automated summary.
Wow,
that's some great news. If it's even half as good as your previous
efforts, I think we'll be in V8 heaven :).
I'll try it out the moment I get home!

Awesome!!! Almost like being there and my ears are still ringing. Great work
guys.
I just dl'd and installed it and I can't beleive how much it improves the
realism... far superior to the stock sounds. Now if there was a more
realistic sfx for when repairs are being made... I unfortunately have to
listen to them far too often.

MeatWater NASCAR 4 SoundPack!
Grab it while it's hot, it's in the 'Free Stuff' section.
:)
But are you going to www.meatwater.com? Because I can't find Nascar 3
sounds there. Not that I want them btw :)

PS These N4 sounds are SUPER and a must-download!!

IMPORTANTE!
The SoundPack will NOT work properly if you have altered the app.ini
settings in order to run someone else's sounds!!! You need to revert back to
the default settings:
[Engine]
qualityEngineRPM=5700.000000 ; recorded sample RPM
sampleRPM=5875.000000 ; recorded sample RPM
Otherwise it will sound like "Pole Position" or a lawnmower!

Does this sound pack modify N4 files or does it do the same as other sound
packs, simply adding WAV files into the N4's sound folder? If the latter is the
case, would it be possible to get this sound pack WITHOUT the professional
installation and uninstallation routines? I'd much prefer to install this stuff
manually.

Do what I did, install it to a temporary directory and copy the files over
manually. The sound pack containg wav files which go in the sounds folder,
just like GPL.

Wow! This actually doesn't suck. I like it. Definitely improves the realism. I
DON'T like the installer though. I like zips and tarballs. More control. I just
installed to a seperate directory and zipped up the .wavs for future installs.
Damn fine work nonetheless, on the sounds and the installer. :)

I must comend you on a job well done. The crash, skid, and other
sounds are a vast improvement over the default ones.
But for some reason the engine sound seems to have a bit of static or
crackle to it as the revs come up. My settings for engine in app.ini
are default, and I'm using the SBLive and Altec ADA885 speakers. Any
suggestions?

No, because I adjusted the others sounds down as suggested (like
opponents to 40%). Was in a race last night and several cars crashed
around me, and skid sounds with this are just awesome. Not sure I can
live with the engine in it's current state though. I've tried all
different drivers and options on the sound with no luck. Wonder if
this is a SBLive problem only? What are the others who report perfect
engine sound running?
Michael Fwiw, Cant you do this by just installing MeatWater's
mwn4_10.exe file to a temp directory and just extract the wav
files you want? just my $00.02 <g>

I'm using a SBLive and I think the engine sounds are very good. The only
change I've made is to turn down the crash level some.

I agree T. The skid, crash etc sounds are fantastic!! What I was trying
to ask {& I guess I didnt make myself clear??} is/was did you find the
engine sounds too soft with a kinda background sound in it & you just
answered my question below. I have sent MeatWater an email & was
nice enough to reply to me.
Apparently the engine sound is suppose to emulate what you'd hear if
you had a helmet on.. Still soft for me & I cant seem to get the woosh
sound out either? 'O' well Thanx for the sounds MeatWater. They are
better then the original sounds.. No doubt about it..
Cheers Thom_j.

Will try. Am getting used to the muffled engine sound, especially
when I read it is supposed to simulate what the sound is like when
wearing a helmet inside the car.
Thanks!
