NASCAR Racing 2002 Season appears in EB listing
Rich#8 spotted an EB Games listing for 'NASCAR Racing 2002 Season' for PC, and posters debated whether it was an N4 season pack or the rumoured NASCAR 5, noting the February date matched the earlier Sierra France rumour. Tom Pabst said Papyrus had contacted him months earlier for specifications for what they called 'N5'. Much of the thread criticised N4's damage model and speculated that NASCAR limits how much flying debris sims may show.
Automated summary.
I read somewhere that Papy are finally going to venture into the console
arena. It makes sense too since X-Box and N4 are using DX8. This may not
be a Papy thing though, it just says Sierra.

(just my guess...)
And it DOES say 2002 season, which implies a minor update at best.
Methinks you won't see much different from N4 except the car/driver changes
for the new season...and most likely the new tracks that didn't make it in
N4.

The title is "NASCAR RACING 2002 SEASON PC"
so it sounds like a season pack for N4 and not N5

to design the current WC Chute......they didn't think that was funny.

Hey Tom, I saw a web page of a company that sells wheels and pedals.
They just announced a new set of pedals for somewhere in the range of
$395. Anyway, they had a logo VERY similar to your indy car logo (the
red/green/blue/yellow profile outline). Is that your company?

At least there will be new tracks to test "hang time" on.

I actual took the whole front end of a Mopar hitting the pitwall at Richmond
in NASCAR Legends last night. I have not even seen that at a Super Speedway
in N4.
MadDAWG
So true :) Had a league race Monday night at Watkins Glen. 40%,
realistic damage, sim mode, etc. Leader is behind two side by side slower
cars going down the frontstretch.
One of the slower cars to early going into T1R, and the leader hits him
from behind just past the line. Slower car gets airborne, and stays in the
air, ALL the way until he lands in/by the sand trap in T1R.
Leader had hit him so hard, that his front clip is destroyed, and the
force puts the car on it's rear end vertically like a rocket, destroying the
rear clip. IOW, car rocked back and forth like a see-saw, lol.
No big deal. Leader pits, repairs made, and he goes on to win the race
anyway.
Should of had an undriveable car. Oh well, at least the slower car didn't
get airborne from a 10-20 mph hit for a change :)

Way back in ICR1, Papyrus had all sorts of body parts, wings, tires bouncing
and flying off in collisions. But with the death/injuries of several fans
from flying tires, I just don't think Nascar would be too willing to have
that part of racing exposed.

Personally, thought it was a cop out then and now.
Could be mistaken though, who knows.

Exactly. And you bet it affected the race; he shouldn't have even

thickness and sharpness options, terrain deforming ala Red Faction.
Also to include variations in seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter.
The Fall/Winter sessons will include (because of the lull in lawnmower
season) couch potato championships, cable T.V. channel switching
challenges (for all you twitch finger channel changers)
They also plan an add on pack with grass variations and riding mower
mods, such as: body kits, coffee can (fart) mufflers, performance
inhancement graphics and enhanced 3D grass A.I. and for the first time
fire !!
Yes indeed Sierra/Papy has finally topped itself...but if I can't flip
the mower I ain't buying it,, do you hear that Sierra ?

I wonder if there will be a one lap penalty for accidentally mowing

We can have a freakin' steering wheel that practically yanks your arm out
pulling to the left, in the name of realism, but we can't have a fender fall
off. Oh, no... That would be unacceptable!
This "you can't show damage" thing has always irritated me... It's come up
in other racing sims before.

Nascar would prefer all sims to only ding fenders not lose wheels or
anything else that might be considered a missle.
