ICR and `steering wheels'

Well, I like ICR so much I'm considering purchasing one of those flight
simulator controls that can be used as a steering wheel.  Could someone
advise:

1.  How well do these things work with ICR?  Is it worth shelling out for
    one?

2.  Can I use my joystick as a stick shift if I get one?

3.  Which one is considered the best?

Thrustmaster makes an actual steering wheel, shifter and pedals for

driving simulations. I haven't tried it myself but have heard some

good things about it. I think Chips and Bits sells it for somewhere

around $130.00

I bought a Virtual Pilot for 70 bucks.  You can configure the buttons as
shifters if you want and the way they're positioned, it's kinda F1 style.  The
throttle control on the top works great -- it's considered Joystick 2 by the
program.

It works great for me.. once I got used to it, I started getting laps nearly 20
mph faster.  It also GREATLY reduces arm and hand fatigue when you don't have
to push the joystick button all the time.  I run full-length races regularly
without discomfort.
