Long-term faults with the GP1?

by Stanley Cha » Mon, 03 Feb 1997 04:00:00

To all users of the GP1,

When do you expect the pots on the wheel to go bad? If so , are the pots
easy to replace or will a squirt of contact cleaner solve it? (Are the
pots housed in the panel behind the wheel on the dash?). Are there any
long-term reliability problems with the springs on the pedals etc? My
unit is still new, but I would like to be able to anticipate problems or
order some spares so play won't be disrupted!

TIA,

Stanley Chan

My GP1's pots lasted about 4 months.  Cleaning didn't help.  You can get
replacement pots free from Thrustmaster but...... you'll need a Volt Meter
to get the new pots in right.

Dave

Hi Dave,

If you have performed this replacement, could you kindly tell me how to
go about it ? Which pots went first, steering or throttle? Since you
were at it, any possibilty of upgrading to higher spec. pots?

Thanks,

Stanley Chan
