I can't say about gp3 yet, I haven't heard which 3d modes he's
supporting. But if GPL is a major portion of your racing, then DO NOT
go for either the g400 or the TNT cards. And don't use opengl for the
voodoo, it's coded for glide. Open gl was a beta file that has never
been finalized. it is mainly for the tnt cards but has a serious
problem with mirrors and framerate when in the***pit.
SCGT plays fine with 3dfx or D3d. some users have gotten better
framerates using the 3dfx drivers, some with D3d.
the TNT2 ultra can produce more colors and has decent speed but it
just isn't fully compatible with GPL. I have seen some users post about
fixing the problem by editing the registry, but I haven't followed that
thread as closely as I should have.
The GEFORCE by nvidea suffers from the same problems as the tnt2's for
GPl, once again, it can be made to work, but the 3dfx card is directly
supported by GPL. If you really want GPL to run properly, and get good
results with SCGT, & N3/Nl, DTR, and MGPrs etc etc, then the 3dfx Voodoo
3 3000 or 3500 should be the ticket.
3dfx should have next generation cards out by May and the GeForce20
will be close behind. (I have no clue as to GPL compatibility with the
new 3dfx cards.)
