Need Help SBPCI64 For DOS!!

by ^Frett » Thu, 16 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Hello Fellow Sim Racers;
I just bought Soundblaster's PCI64 sound card. It's a fanatastic
card but since I run gp2, icr2 & n2 all in dos I cant get my card
to run. When I had my SPro it set the sound and the same with
SB16 but with the SB PCI64 it wont give me any sound.
I will show you the lines for my old autoexexc.bat for Spro &
what the new PCI64 loaded. I ave been told it will run in dos
but I cant figure out how? And Im at a loss!!

Here's my old SPro statements:
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4
SET SOUND=C:\SBPRO
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
C:\SBPRO\SBP-SET /M:12 /VOC:12 /CD:12 /FM:12 /LINE:12

Also I run a multi-config so I can go into windiws95 when I want
or go into dos that is called Games below after I Function Key 8
first & then bring up my menu..

Here's my statements for the SB PCI64 For Windows95 & Dos
aka Games:
:WINDOWS-95
SET SOUND=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\CTSND
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6

:GAMES
SET SOUND=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\CTSND
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2

Any help will be deeply appreciated. I called Ensoniq [who
was just bought out by Creative Labs] and Creative Labs.
I basically got no info!!
So I am asking the pros here on rec.autos.simulators..
Thank you in advance!! From Thom j. aka ^Fretts

Umm..  it seems interesting that you are using IRQ 7 (your printer port)
for
the sound card in DOS, when Win95 is set to IRQ 5.

Here are my suggestions:

#1 ---------------------------------------------------------
Set the games BLASTER variable to match Windows.

:GAMES
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6

#2 ---------------------------------------------------------
I also believe CTSND will report back what it is doing.
You can try putting a PAUSE statement after CTSND
to see what is going on.

:GAMES
SET SOUND=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\CTSND
PAUSE
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6

#3 ---------------------------------------------------------
If all else fails, start Windows95 like usual then shutdown using
the "Restart computer in MS-DOS mode" option.
This should setup the PCI / plug 'n pray information on the card
so it matches the WINDOWS configuration in the autoexec.bat.

Hope this helps,
Jason.

I removed the PAUSE from the last post.
