Giving Indy that IRL flavor (again)

The last time I brought this up I got flogged with messages saying the
people have already done what I had mentioned but I still would like
some information with some other things.  Such as:  In order to achieve
realistic speeds, what turbo boost setting (in ICR2 obviously) would you
put it on?  ( I put it on 1.)  How about setups (race and qual)?  Has
anybody "de-tweaked" a 240mph setup to work good with the boost setting
on 1?  How 'bout an UPDATED carset?  Also any other items to make my
Indy / IRL experience to be realistic (no rain though please!)

Oh yeah, how do you adjust engine reliability?  To be realistic, there
will need to only be a couple of cars running at the end!  >;)

I guess I am just surprised that anyone would want to do this. To me
the IRL are the scabs of racing. I will watch the race but I am mostly
disgusted. Ironic how the only North American race that went well
this weekend was the CART race.

How do you know there will be *ANY* cars running at the end? I
suspect that there will be, but still you cannot know. The race
hasn't been run yet. And in the 15 laps that were run there was
a slew of engine failures. I joked with a friend that it would be ironic
if the engines that would survive were in the 5th row :-)

Giving Indy that IRL flavor (again)

Hi Jeff!

-snip-

Re the updated carset, I was hoping to have a big update ready for Indy,
but unfortunately I've only been able to get pictures of two new colour
schemes, as the coverage over here in the U.K. has been virtually non-
existent (our qualifying highlights consisted of short clips of the
front row's laps, short interviews with them, a spin by Sam Schmidt, and
a chat with Eddie Cheever and Robby Gordon).

My next plan was to record the race, and do the update this week from
that footage, but after watching two hours of studio chat while the
rains fell on Sunday, we were told that we would now only get race
highlights, this coming Saturday (a pretty poor effort from Sky T.V.) -
assuming of course a few hours of dry, daylight weather can be found
before then! :-)  Gary Godsoe, who is helping with the carset, had a
turn three seat on Sunday, but I don't know if he'll be there today.

If anyone knows of a source of up-to-date (i.e. May '97) car pictures on
the web, then I'd be grateful if they could let me know, and I can get
on with the update before the weekend (the IRL website strangely doesn't
seem to have any pics from practice yet, at least not that I've found).
Even better, if anyone knows of a satellite channel or feed on Astra
that will have the race later today (Tuesday), that would be tremendous.

Failing that, I'll try work from the T.V. highlights and HOPEFULLY
something will be online at the usual places by the end of next week.

Cheers.
