Is it really possible to do 212 MPH???

I now have 3 Taladega setups that boast over 200 mph descriptions, one
as high as 212 MPH.  Yet I can only get 192 in a draft.  How do you do
this?  Do you have to be inches from the car in front of you? What's
the trick?  I can't believe my driving line takes 20 mph off a lap.

Take the restrictor plate off of the file "TALADEGA.TXT" (found under
\NASCAR\TRACKS\TALADEGA subdirectory).  In the file, on the third line,
you'll see a "1", directly behind the abbreviation "SPDWY". Edit it to
a "0" and save the file.  Then, load one of those "wonder" settings
in the garage, the ones that boast the 212 mph.

Crank up the game, select Tally and hold on.  As for top
speeds, 212 is nothing...with a bit of testing and trial and error,
I crossed the 217 mph lap average line.  Be advised though, although
you can lap the pack in about 6 or 7 laps, the tires go about 130
or 140 percent faster at those speeds and when you wreck, you
have zero control over the car.

Also, f you have upgraded to version 1.2 (either with the patch or with
the track pack) you will lose some speed as well.

The "trick" is to cheat and remove the restrictor plate, a simple edit to a
text file.

You can't get 212 with restrictor plate racing..and with version 1.2...
you can edit your taladega.txt file inside of the taladega directory...
change the 0 to  a 1 on the spdway line..that will take the restrictor plate
off allowing more speed..in version 1.0..a person could get around 200+ with
the restrictors but not more than 205 i don't believe...it might be a one in
the spdway line..if so then change it to a 0...

jay,

the fastest that i have gotten up to with-out drafting is 214mph.
try the qualifing set-up with 4th gear set at 3.50 and spoilers raised
an lowered all the way front and rear repectavely
that speed is not average lap.
