today. These cars have worse handling that the GPL cars. In GPL you can
throw the car into a corner, and once you're round and pointing in the
right direction you can ramp on the gas and motor out. Not so in Viper.
At first they feel very tossable, but if you try to slide them into a
corner and then throttle them out, they just drive hard into the apex
and off the circuit with what seems like very little bidding from the
driver. It almost funny - the exhibit the same snap oversteer that you
see in TOCA but in slow motion. You can tell it's going to happen but
you're helpless to prevent it. At Sunset Mesa in particular there is a
very steep hill where it is very hard to keep the car on line except at
the very slowest speeds and in particularly at very low amounts of
throttle. Also if you just drop a bit of a wheel off track even with
your foot right off and the car will go into an internal fit and becomes
very hard to control. And it's very easy to do what Mika Hakkinen did at
Imola on Sunday, but again in very slow motion, and with no chance of
recovery. Am I missing something essential from the setups?
On the setups theme, does anyone know of a site where I can pick up some
good setups for Viper?
Cheers,
Paul
