Resistive torque from the ground

Hi,

I would like to ask for a precision. Correct me if i'am wrong ;o)

For a given torque from the engine, you'll have more torque in 1st gear
than in 6th gear at the wheel.
For a given resistive torque for the ground, you'll have more torque in
6th gear than in 1st gear at the engine.

That' work well, in our model when starting in 1st gear compare to 6th
gear : it's easier in 1st gear ;o)

But when driving on dirt surfaces ( low grip ), imagine you take a long
4 wheel drift, so the wheels have lot of positive slip ratio ( wheel to
fast for the ground ). Then in our model the engine accelerate to max
rpm, the wheels continue to have big slip ratio, and it's take very long
time for the car to accelerate ..
I think it's one of this problems =>

1) the resistive torque from the ground is not caculate weel , for now
it's equal to longitudinal force of the tire.
2) the resistive torque is not directly proportinoal to one over
gear_ratio.
3) our slip ratio vs longitudinal force curve is too low on high slip
ratio

what do you think about this ?

king regards,

I quite like Option 3, with the addition that possibly it's linked to
tyre tractive force decreasing /faster/ than engine torque.  If the
engine torque falls away sharply enough at high rpm, you should end up
with a stable system; equally, higher grip in the 'tail' of the
Pacejka curve should do the same.

HTH,
Jonny
